MID-CITY COMMUNITY ADVOCACY NETWORK WORKS TO BUILD A SAFE, PRODUCTIVE, AND HEALTHY COMMUNITY FOR THE RESIDENTS OF CITY HEIGHTS AND GREATER SAN DIEGO THROUGH COLLABORATION, ADVOCACY, AND ORGANIZING.

MID-CITY IS A COLLABORATIVE ORGANIZATION BRINGING TOGETHER OVER 10,000 ORGANIZATIONS, GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES, RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS, AND RESIDENTS OF CITY HEIGHTS EACH YEAR TO IMPROVE CITY HEIGHTS, GREATER SAN DIEGO AND ADVANCE EQUITY. THE ORGANIZATION FORMERLY OPERATED UNDER A SPONSOR DURING THAT 30-YEAR PERIOD ACHIEVED THE FOLLOWING:1. RAISED $5.1 MILLION IN FUNDING TO SECURE THE CONSTRUCTION OF TWO SKATE PARKS AND NEW RECREATION CENTER.2. ESTABLISHED THE REGION'S FIRST NO-COST YOUTH BUS PASS PROGRAM.3. DESIGNED AND PASSED A SAN DIEGO RESOLUTION ALLOWING YOUNG PEOPLE TO SIT ON ANY CITY BOARD OR COMMISSION WITH FULL VOTING RIGHTS.4. CREATED A RESTORATIVE JUSTICE ALTERNATIVE TO JUVENILE INCARCERATION FOR BLACK AND LATINO YOUTH THAT SO FAR HAS HAD A 100 PERCENT SUCCESS RATE IN THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE RESTORATIVE PROCESS WITHOUT RECIDIVISM.5. IMPROVED SCHOOL LUNCHES BY WORKING WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT TO MAKE THEM MORENUTRITIOUS AND CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE.
