THE FRIENDS CONDUCTED A COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE FILL THE SHELVES, OPENING DAY COLLECTION TO PROVIDE 46,000 ITEMS IN THE NEW LIBRARY. OUR GOAL IS $410,000. ON FEBRUARY 8, 2023, A CHECK FOR $100,000 WAS SUBMITTED TO THE MANATEE COUNTY LIBRARY AS PARTIAL COMPLETION OF THE CAMPAIGN. THE CAMPAIGN CONTINUES INTO 2023-2024 UNTIL WE REACH THE GOAL.
THE FRIENDS ADVOCATED FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE LIBRARY TO PROVIDE SMALL STUDY ROOMS THAT WERE NOT INCLUDED ON THE FIRST FLOOR. SMALL STUDY ROOMS ARE NEEDED FOR TUTORING, JOB INTERVIEWS, ESL INSTRUCTION, PROCTORING OF EXAMS, ONLINE TESTS, ORGANIZATION MEETINGS, INSTRUCTION AND MORE.
COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS: THE FRIENDS PROVIDED TWO INFORMATIVE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS, CREATED AND CONDUCTED BY VOLUNTEERS OF THE FRIENDS ORGANIZTION. TRAVELING SOLO AND LIFELINK ORGAN AND TISSUE DONATION PROGRAM. THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDE INFORMATION AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR LIFE LEARNING.
