MOBILIZATION AND ADVOCACY: IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TEARFUND, TEARFUND USA SERVES HUNDREDS OF CHURCHES AND THOUSANDS OF INDIVIDUALS IN THE US THROUGH EDUCATIONAL, DISCIPLESHIP, AND ADVOCACY PROGRAMS TO MOBILIZE ACTION, GIVING, PRAYER, AND LEARNING ADDRESSING POVERTY AND INJUSTICE. ADVOCACY EFFORTS THIS PAST YEAR WERE AROUND THE UN CLIMATE SUMMIT IN GLASGOW, SCOTLAND. WE JOINED THE GLOBAL CHURCH IN CALLING ON LEADERS AT THE MEETING TO MAKE COMMITMENTS TO PROTECTING FORESTS, REDUCING DEPENDENCE ON FOSSIL FUELS, AND FINANCE CLIMATE ADAPTATION. COLLECTIVELY THE GLOBAL TEARFUND ADVOCACY MOVEMENT COLLECTED OVER 22,000 SIGNATURES FROM OVER 26 NATIONS.
CHURCH AND COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION (CCT): IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TEARFUND, TEARFUND USA MOBILIZED CHURCH AND COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION, RESULTING IN THE RESOURCING, TRAINING AND SCALE-UP OF 1,750 CHURCHES AROUND THE WORLD. HIGHLIGHTS: IN BURKINA FASO, 20 CCT TRAINERS WERE TRAINED AND 10 NEW GROUPS FORMED, RESULTING IN THE LAUNCH OF 43 SAVINGS GROUPS (SG). IN SOUTHEAST ASIA, 95 CCT TRAININGS OCCURED AND 400 NEW CHURCHES WERE FORMED, IMPACTING 323 COMMUNITIES. IN GUATAMALA, CCT TRAININGS IMPACTED 83 FAMILIES, IMPROVING THEIR LIFESTYLE THROUGH THE CREATION OF POULTRY UNITS THAT GENERATE FOOD FOR THEIR FAMILIES IN CONDITIONS OF POVERTY, AND IN HONDURAS, 82 ENTREPRENEURS HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE PROCESS OF PASTORAL AND ENTREPRENEURIAL TRAINING, AND HAVE FINALIZED THEIR BUSINESS PLANS WHICH ARE NOW READY TO RECEIVE THEIR SEED CAPITAL.
CONFLICT, CRISIS AND REFUGEES: TEARFUND USA AND OUR PARTNERS RESPONDED TO THE UNPRECEDENTED CRISIS OF REFUGEES AND DISPLACED PEOPLE BY MEETING THE EMERGENCY NEEDS OF COUNTRIES IN CRISIS SUCH AS UKRAINE AND ITS NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES: POLAND, ROMANIA AND SLOVAKIA. TEARFUND'S LOCAL PARTNERS HAVE BEEN WORKING RELENTLESSLY TO PROVIDE FOOD, SAFE WATER, SHELTER, AND TRAUMA COUNSELING TO THOSE FLEEING CONFLICT. IN RECENT YEARS, WE HAVE RESPONDED TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE BEIRUT EXPLOSION AND SUPPORTED SYRIAN REFUGEES WHO HAVE RESETTLED IN LEBANON.
