THE PURPOSE OF THE GARY BEACH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP IS TO ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO COMPLETE MAJORS IN THE ACADEMIC MAJOR OF: ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES, WATER RESOURCES, RANGELAND ECOLOGY, WATERSHED MANAGEMENT, OR A RELATED FIELD. PREFERENCE GIVEN TO STUDENTS INTENDING TO LIVE AND WORK IN WYOMING IN ONE OF THESE FIELDS.


TO PROMOTE AND ASSIST EDUCATIONAL AND SCIENTIFIC WORK CONCERNING CONSERVATION DISTRICT PROGRAMS IN THE CONSERVATION, MAINTENANCE, IMPROVEMENT, AND WISE USE OF LAND, SOIL, WATER, TREES, VEGETATION, WILDLIFE, OPEN-SPACE, AND OTHER RENEWABLE NATURAL RESOURCES.


THE GROUNDWATER EDUCATION PROGRAM INCREASE HOMEOWNER/LANDOWNER AWARENESS AND KNOWLEDGE OF PROPER SITING, PERMITTING, AND DRILLING OF DOMESTIC WATER WELLS, WATER WELL MONITORING, LOCAL GROUNDWATER PROTECTION


A DIVERSION STRUCTURE THAT SPLITS ROCK CREEK AND DRY CREEK WAS BUILT IN 1954 TO DIVERT IRRIGATION WATER FROM ROCK CREEK INTO DRY CREEK WAS REBUILT. THE PROJECT DIRECTLY AFFECTED THE WATER INTAKE FACILITY FOR THE TOWN OF ROCK RIVER THAT IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 270 FEET DOWNSTREAM OF THE DIVERSION STRUCTURE ON THE ROCK CREEK SIDE. THIS PROJECT PROVIDES PROTECTION OF THE MUNICIPAL WATER SUPPLY, MORE STABLE IRRIGATION WATER FLOW FOR THE WATER USERS, AND MORE EFFICIENT WATER DELIVERY FOR FISHERY AND WETLANDS. THIS DIVERSION STRUCTURE IS A FISH FRIENDLY PASSAGE.
