YOUTH SISTERS CIRCLE THE YOUNG BLACK FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS, INC. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BOLD YOGA LLC, PRESENTED THE YOUTH SISTERS CIRCLE. THIS 6-WEEK PROGRAM FOCUSED ON CULTIVATING A SAFE SPACE FOR YOUNG GIRLS TO BOND AND SHARE THEIR FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS ABOUT THEIR LIFE AND COMMUNITY EXPERIENCES TO ENCOURAGE A COLLABORATIVE DEVELOPMENT OF SUPPORTIVE COPING STRATEGIES. THE GIRLS WERE GUIDED IN AN INTENSE HOUR OF YOGA AND MEDITATION WITH POSITIVE AFFIRMATION ROUTINES. THE CIRCLE FACILITATED INTIMATE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT TRAUMA, ITS INFLUENCE ON OUR SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL HEALTH, HEALING AND COPING STRATEGIES. THE CIRCLE FACILITATED PEER-TO-PEER CONVERSATIONS AMONGST THE OLDER GIRLS ABOUT PUBERTY, PERSONAL CARE AND HYGIENE, AND RELATIONSHIPS. IN YBFE'S 'KNOW THYSELF: DEFINING SELF CONCEPT" WORKSHOP SERIES, THE GIRLS STUDIED TO WORK TOWARDS UNDERSTANDING THEIR OWN PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, LIMITATIONS, AND INFLUENCES TO REINFORCE POSITIVE SELF-CONCEPTS TO STRENGTHEN CONFIDENCE, SELF-ESTEEM AND SENSE OF WORTH. THE WORKSHOP HELPED THE PARTICIPANT TO BUILD THEIR SKILLS IN MANAGING THEIR MENTAL, PHYSICAL, AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING AND RESPONSES FOR SELF-DEVELOPMENT, SELF-HEALING, SELF-ACCOUNTABILITY, RELATIONSHIP BUILDING, AND CONFIDENCE. THIS PROGRAM SERVED 15 GIRLS FROM AGES 9-16.
