WORKING GLOBALLY TO ENSURE THAT PEOPLE WHO ARE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING CAN HEAR AND TALK.WE WANT ALL FAMILIES TO BE INFORMED AND SUPPORTED, PROFESSIONALS TO BE APPROPRIATELY QUALIFIED TO TEACH AND HELP CHILDREN WITH HEARING LOSS, PUBLIC POLICY LEADERS TO EFFECTIVELY ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS, AND COMMUNITIES TO BE EMPOWERED TO HELP THEIR NEIGHBORS WITH HEARING LOSS SUCCEED: THE ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL ASSOCIATION WORKS GLOBALLY TO ENSURE THAT PEOPLE WHO ARE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING CAN HEAR AND TALK. EDUCATION AND TRAINING - TRAINING AND INFORMATION ON THE LATEST RESEARCH AS WELL AS UP-TO-DATE TRAINING AND RESOURCES ON BEST PRACTICES IN LISTENING AND SPOKEN LANGUAGE. AS OF 2020, THE SYMPOSIUM HAS BEEN HELD VIRTUALLY AND INCREASED ITS ATTENDANCE BY 300%. SESSIONS REACHED PROFESSIONALS FROM 45 COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD. OUR 25-YEAR-OLD LOFT PROGRAM WAS HELD VIRTUALLY IN 2021 DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, AND SPURRED A NEW VIRTUAL PROGRAM, LEAP. BOTH HELP DEAF TEENS DEVELOP THEIR SELF-IDENTITY, ADVOCATE FOR THEMSELVES AND OTHERS, AND IMPROVE THEIR COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS AND SELF-CONFIDENCE.
COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLICATIONS-TO ENSURE THAT INFORMATION REACHES PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS, THEIR FAMILIES AND THE PROFESSIONALS WHO SERVE THEM, AG BELL PROVIDED THE MOST UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION IN WELL-RESPECTED PUBLICATIONS ON LISTENING AND SPOKEN LANGUAGE. AG BELL'S WEBSITE IS THE BEST-KNOWN, INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED RESOURCE PROVIDING INFORMATION IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH. AG BELL ALSO PUBLISHES ITS WEEEKLY BLOG, VOLTA VOICES, AND OTHER RELIABLE BROCHURES AND MATERIALS REGARDING LISTENING AND SPOKEN LANGUAGE, AND MAKES EXTENSIVE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA TO RAISE AWARENESS THAT CHILDREN WHO ARE DEAF CAN LEARN TO HEAR AND TALK.
