IN THE SMALL GROUP PRESENTATION, WE HELP INDIVIDUAL PARENTS FIND RESOURCES DEPENDING ON THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF THEIR CHILD. IN 2023 WE HELD 30 PARENT TALKS ATTENDED BY 185 PARENTS. IEP/504 PLAN BINDERS ARE A CONTENT RICH PRINTED RESOURCE THAT INCLUDES EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL ON DYSLEXIA & THE IEP & 504 PROCESSES IN SCHOOLS. IT CONTAINS EVALUATIONS & GOALS TO HELP FAMILIES GET THE APPROPRIATE SERVICES FOR THEIR STUDENTS WITH DYSLEXIA. THIS TOOL ALLOWS PARENTS TO SAVE & ORGANIZE ASSESSMENTS, RECORDS, REPORTS & CORRESPONDENCE RELEVANT TO THEIR CHILDS SCHOOL IEP OR 504 PLAN. BINDERS ARE AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH & SPANISH & WERE DISTRIBUTED AT 7 EVENTS TO 90 PARENTS. AN ONLINE VERSION IS AVAILABLE ON OUR WEBSITE FOR PARENTS TO DOWNLOAD & PRINT.ONE-ON-ONE CONSULTING CONDUCTED 91 ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS WITH PARENTS TO CONSULT ON THEIR SITUATION, IDENTIFY APPROPRIATE RESOURCES &/OR HELP THEM WITH NAVIGATING THE IEP & 504 PROCESS IN SCHOOLS. ATTENDED IN-PERSON IEP SCHOOL MEETINGS WITH 5 FAMILIES TO PROVIDE ADVOCACY.OUTREACH WE CONDUCTED 8 OUTREACH EVENTS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT DYSLEXIA. THESE INCLUDED PRESENTATIONS TO ROTARY CLUBS, SCHOOL GROUPS & COMMUNITY GATHERINGS. OUR WEBSITE PROVIDES A COMPREHENSIVE OFFERING OF RELEVANT INFORMATION, RESEARCH & LINKS TO OTHER RESOURCES. OUR ONLINE PRESENCE INCLUDES OUR FACEBOOK PAGE WITH 4554 FOLLOWERS & 4050 LIKES. WE ALSO HOST A PRIVATE GROUP FACEBOOK PAGE THAT PROVIDES A FORUM FOR 1246 PARENTS TO INTERACT WITH OTHER FAMILIES OF DYSLEXIC CHILDREN TO SHARE THEIR LIVED EXPERIENCE, ADVICE & RESOURCES.
