THE DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES - PRACTICE-BASED RESEARCH NETWORK CONTINUES TO FULFILL THEIR MISSION OF IMPROVING THE HEALTH AND HEALTH CARE OF PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES THROUGH CLINICAL CARE RESEARCH EDUCATION AND TRAINING.
WE CONTINUE TO HOLD OUR MONTHLY MEETINGS WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM LOCAL SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES AND MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS AS WELL AS PARENTS AND FAMILY MEMBERS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. THROUGH MONTHLY MEETINGS WE CONTINUED OUR WORK PROVIDING TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO TWO GRANT-FUNDED PROJECTS: THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL -FUNDED NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL CURRICULUM INITIATIVE IN DEVELOPMENTAL MEDICINE AND A CLEVELAND CLINIC-FUNDED CAREGIVER CATALYST AWARD BUILDING BRIDGES TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH CARE OF PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES".
THE DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES - PRACTICE-BASED RESEARCH NETWORK SERVES AS A HUB FOR SHARING EDUCATIONAL AND ADVOCACY RESOURCES AMONG OUR PARTICIPANTS AND THOSE WHO VIEW OUR WEBSITE. THROUGH OUR MEMBER INVOLVEMENT IN LOCAL STATE AND NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES WE DISCUSS AND SHARE INFORMATION REGARDING GOVERNMENTAL POLICY AND REGULATORY ISSUES SALIENT TO INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND THOSE WHO SERVE AND SUPPORT THEM.
