THE PROJECT HAS ONLY A SINGLE PROGRAM SERVICE: PROVIDING PRO BONO LEGAL REPRESENTATION TO INDIGENT ASYLUM SEEKERS, IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES ON APPEAL BEFORE THE BOARD OF IMMIGRATION APPEALS (BIA) AND FEDERAL CIRCUIT COURTS OF APPEAL. IN 2018, WE REPRESENTED CLIENTS IN THE BIA AND COURTS OF APPEALS WHO WERE FROM MEXICO, THE SOUTH SUDAN, EL SALVADOR, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, GUATEMALA AND HONDURAS. SEVERAL OF THOSE CLIENTS WERE AWARDED RELIEF AND ALLOWED TO STAY IN THE USA, EITHER PERMANENTLY OR TEMPORARILY, WHILE OTHER CLIENTS REQUESTING RELIEF FROM REMOVAL/DEPORTATION ARE STILL LITIGATING THEIR RIGHT TO RELIEF. TO THE EXTENT, THAT THE PROJECT OBTAINS ANY RELIEF, ITS INDIVIDUAL CLIENTS ARE BENEFITED AS WELL AS THEIR FAMILIES -- PARTICULARLY SINCE OUR CLIENTS FACE A HIGH RISK OF MURDER, TORTURE OR ASSAULT IF RETURNED TO THEIR HOME COUNTRY.
