THROUGH ITS PROGRAMMING, SYNERGIA - INITIATIVES FOR HUMAN RIGHTS SUPPORTS THE PROTECTION AND THE PROMOTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS, WITH PARTICULAR FOCUS IN AFRICA, LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN, BY STRENGTHENING THE ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY OF HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS AND CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS AND SUPPORTING MOVEMENT BUILDING; BY SUPPORTING PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS TO DEVELOP SECURITY STRATEGIES AND RAPID RESPONSE IN CASE OF CRISIS; BY EDUCATING COMMUNITIES TO DEMAND RESPECT FOR THEIR HUMAN RIGHTS AT DOMESTIC, REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL LEVEL; DOCUMENTING AND PROVIDING RECOURSE TO INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED A HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION OR ABUSE; AND USING DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE TO DEMAND ACTION FROM THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR GUARANTEEING THOSE RIGHTS.SYNERGIA WORKS TO PROMOTE AND PROTECT THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF THOSE WHO ARE MOST AT RISK, INCLUDING INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES TARGETED ON GROUNDS OF THEIR REAL OR PERCEIVED SEXUAL ORIENTATION, GENDER IDENTITY, GENDER EXPRESSION, SEX CHARACTERISTICS.
