LIVING LEARNING LIBRARIES (LLL) PROVIDED OVER 900 CHILDREN AND TEENS WITH ACCESS TO OVER 35,000 BOOKS SELECTED TO ENCOURAGE YOUTH READING. LLL ALSO PROVIDED EXTENSIVE SUPPORT AND CONSULTATION SERVICES TO HELP FAMILIES ENGAGE THEIR PARTICULAR LEARNERS IN READING, AND TO MEET THOSE STUDENTS PARTICULAR ACADEMIC AND DEVELOPMENT NEEDS.
THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER MONTHS AND ON VARIOUS HOLIDAYS, LIVING LEARNING LIBRARIES OFFERED MANY CHILDRENS STORY TIME GATHERINGS WHICH INCLUDED STORY READING ALOUD, CRAFTS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES. TWO LEVELS OF TEEN BOOK CLUBS ALSO PROVIDED ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO INCREASE THE STUDENTS EXPERIENCE WITH BOOKS AND TO ENCOURAGE TAKE-HOME READING. EVENING INFORMATIONAL SESSIONS FOR PARENTS ARE PROVIDED TO TEACH ABOUT THE POWER OF READING AND HOW TO EXPLORE THE LIBRARY RESOURCES.
LIVING LEARNING LIBRARIES ASSISTED EDUCATORS AND PARENTS IN MEETING SPECIFIC ACADEMIC NEEDS THROUGH CURATION SERVICES: ON A MONTHLY BASIS, CREATING OR CURATING ALMOST 200 BOOK AND RESOURCE BINS CUSTOMIZED TO THE EDUCATIONAL SCOPE AND SEQUENCE OF LEARNING FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES, FOR LEARNING CO-OPERATIVES, AND FOR A SCHOOL.
