NEDS IS THE SOLE CORPORATE MEMBER OF NEOB AND, IN ADDITION TO OPERATING A TISSUE RECOVERY AGENCY, PROVIDES A RANGE OF ADMINISTRATIVE AND CLINICAL SERVICES EXCLUSIVELY TO THE OPO. TISSUE DONATION AND RECOVERY SERVICES- NEDS OPERATES AN ACCREDITED AND FDA-REGISTERED TISSUE RECOVERY AGENCY, COORDINATING THE AUTHORIZATION AND RECOVERY OF TISSUE. THE TISSUE RECOVERY AGENCY PROVIDES 24 HOURS A DAY STAFFING THROUGH AN OPERATIONS CENTER TO RESPOND TO HOSPITAL REFERRALS OF POTENTIAL TISSUE DONORS AND TO CONDUCT MEDICAL SCREENING TO ASSESS DONATION SUITABILITY. THE TISSUE SERVICES PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDES SUPPORT AND INFORMATION ABOUT TISSUE DONATION TO FAMILIES IN ORDER TO OBTAIN AUTHORIZATION FOR DONATION OR DISCUSS CARRYING-OUT THE DONOR'S AUTHORIZATION THROUGH A DONOR REGISTRY. THE TISSUE SERVICES PROGRAM COORDINATES THE SURGICAL RECOVERY OF DONATED TISSUES AND THE PACKAGING AND TRANSPORTATION OF THE TISSUE TO TISSUE PROCESSING ORGANIZATIONS THAT THEN PREPARE THE TISSUE FOR FUTURE TRANSPLANTATION. THE TISSUE SERVICES PROGRAM SEEKS TO MAXIMIZE THE DONATION OF TISSUE FOR TRANSPLANT BY FOCUSING ON INCREASING THE RATE OF CONVERSION OF POTENTIAL TISSUE DONORS TO ACTUAL DONORS. THIS HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED BY INCREASING THE NUMBER OF FAMILIES APPROACHED ABOUT TISSUE DONATION AND PROVIDING MORE IN-DEPTH INFORMATION TO FAMILIES ABOUT TISSUE DONATION AS PART OF THE AUTHORIZATION CONVERSATIONS. DURING 2022, 4,471 TISSUES WERE RECOVERED FROM 1,737 DONORS.
