TO IMPROVE ORAL HEALTH FOR ALL PENNSYLVANIANS BY UNITING STAKEHOLDERS TO ADVANCE ADVOCACY, POLICY, EDUCATION AND INNOVATIVE APPROACHES.

EDUCATION VIA COMMUNITY OUTREACH: MULTIPLE SUBCONTRACTS AWARDED FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH HRSA/CDC GRANTS TO STATE ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE ORAL HEALTH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING TO COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS, PEDIATRICIANS, DENTISTS, DENTAL HYGIENISTS, LIBRARY SYSTEMS, COMMUNITY-BASED AGENCIES, RURAL HEALTH CLINICS, ETC.ASSISTANCE WAS ALSO PROVIDED TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ON SETTING UP A STATE SURVEILLANCE PLAN AND IMPLEMENTING THE 2020-2030 PA ORAL HEALTH PLAN BY UTILIZING A DENTAL CONSULTANT.
PREVENTIVE AND EDUCATION SERVICES: ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMING WAS COMPLETED BY THE COALITION ITSELF TO EDUCATE STAKEHOLDERS ON PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUES AROUND ORAL HEALTH IN THE STATE. 6 VIRTUAL MEETINGS ACROSS THE STATE, HOSTING MORE THAN 300 INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS, WERE HELD IN 2021. REGULAR REPORTS WERE DRAFTED ON THE CURRENT ORAL HEALTH CRISIS BASED ON MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND PROVIDER DATA, AND WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS WERE UTILIZED TO INFORM PCOH STAKEHOLDERS. ATTENDANCE AND PRESENTATIONS WERE HELD AT STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL CONFERENCES TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND INFORMATION ON ORAL HEALTH PROGRAMS IN PA. NUMEROUS TRAININGS WERE PROVIDED TO 239 DENTAL PROGRAM STUDENTS ON PUBLIC HEALTH CAREERS AND MORE THAN 400 HIGH SCHOOLS STUDENTS WERE ENGAGED AROUND DENTAL CAREER OPTIONS. NINE SCHOOL SEALANT PROGRAMS WERE ALSO UTILIZED TO WORK WITH MORE THAN 50 SCHOOLS IN PA.
MINI GRANTS ISSUED FOR PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED TO FULFILL THE MISSION OF THE STATE ORAL HEALTH PLAN AS WELL AS FOR WATER AUTHORITIES WHO INITIATE THE PUBLIC HEALTH MEASURE OF COMMUNITY WATER FLUORIDATION. SEVEN WATER SYSTEMS WERE FUNDED FOR NEW EQUIPMENT AND EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT.
