Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
TEACHING LAB IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WITH A MISSION TO CHANGE THE PARADIGM OF TEACHER PROFESSIONAL LEARNING FOR EDUCATIONAL EQUITY. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TEACHERS, WE TRANSFORM PROFESSIONAL LEARNING FROM THE GROUND UP TO DRAMATICALLY IMPROVE STUDENT OUTCOMES. WE ALSO WORK WITH SCHOOL, DISTRICT, AND STATE LEADERS TO CREATE THE INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEMS NECESSARY TO SUPPORT THESE CHANGES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
SCHOOL/DISTRICT SUPPORT: TEACHING LAB SCALES HIGH-QUALITY AND CURRICULUM-BASED PROFESSIONAL LEARNING TO SCHOOLS AND DISTRICTS. TEACHING LAB'S CORE MODEL IS DESCRIBED AS CORE CONTENT ("HEAD"); TEACHER-LED COMMUNITY ("HEART"); CYCLES OF INQUIRY ("HABITS") AND A FOCUS ON THE PURSUIT OF EQUITY ("EQUITY"). WITH EDUCATORS, TEACHING LAB CREATES "LABS" IN SCHOOL SYSTEMS. LABS ARE GROUPS OF 10-25 EDUCATORS WORKING WITH STUDENTS IN THE SAME OR SIMILAR GRADE LEVELS AND SUBJECT AREAS THAT MEET REGULARLY TO COLLABORATE AND SHARE SUCCESSES AND CHALLENGES. LABS ARE LED BY LAB LEADERS, WHO ARE EXPERIENCED TEACHERS AND INSTRUCTIONAL COACHES FROM WITHIN A SCHOOL SYSTEM WHO FACILITATE THE EXPLORATION OF CONTENT MODULES WITHIN LABS. TEACHING LAB CREATES PROFESSIONAL LEARNING CONTENT MODULES THAT SUPPORT LAB LEADERS IN IMPLEMENTATION OF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING, WHICH TEACHING LAB SUPPORTS THROUGH DIRECT AND VIRTUAL COACHING. IN 2016, TL HAD ONE STATE PARTNERSHIP AND LIMITED DISTRICT PARTNERSHIPS. IN FY21, WE SCALED TO REACH 5,000 EDUCATORS AND 425K STUDENTS.
STATE SUPPORT: TEACHING LAB WORKS DIRECTLY WITH STATE BOARDS OF EDUCATION AND OTHER STATEWIDE AGENCIES TO ESTABLISH THE ENABLING CONDITIONS FOR CURRICULUM ADOPTION AND HIGH-QUALITY AND CURRICULUM-BASED PROFESSIONAL LEARNING. THIS INCLUDES CONSULTING SUPPORT AND/OR IMPLEMENTATION OF KEY COMPONENTS OF STATE STRATEGY (E.G., STATEWIDE TRAININGS, PROFESSIONAL LEARNING CONTENT DEVELOPMENT, ETC.). IN FY21, WE SCALED TO REACH 88,000 EDUCATORS AND 1.28M STUDENTS.
