TEACH FOR BANGLADESHTHE KEY OBJECTIVES AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE ORGANIZATION FOR THE PERIOD OF OCTOBER 2022 TO SEPTEMBER 2023 WERE AS FOLLOWS:PROGRAM PROGRESS REPORTLEARNING INTERVENTIONSFOUNDATIONAL LEARNING: TO KEEP CHILDREN LEARNING AND ENSURE QUALITY EDUCATION, TEACH FOR BANGLADESH(TFB) IS CURRENTLY IMPACTING 7500 STUDENTS IN 45 SCHOOLS ACROSS TWO REGIONS, DHAKA AND CHITTAGONG. OUR STUDENTS HAVE DEMONSTRATED A GROWTH OF 0.65 YEARS IN BANGLA, 0.5 YEARS IN ENGLISH AND 0.45 YEARS IN MATHEMATICS TILL THE MID-YEAR EXAMINATIONS. BLENDED LEARNING: IN 2023, TEACH FOR BANGLADESH LAUNCHED THE 'BRIDGING ONLINE LEARNING DIVIDE (BOLD)' PROJECT TO ADDRESS COVID-19 LEARNING LOSS. INITIALLY, ONLY 19% OF STUDENTS HAD INTERNET ACCESS, BUT THROUGH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, WE ESTABLISHED AN INCLUSIVE PROGRAM. TFB WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE TRAINING TO 500+ PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS ON DIGITAL LITERACY. THIS HAS ALLOWED US TO SUPPORT 3,078 STUDENTS WITH ONLINE AND/OR BLENDED LEARNING USING THE INTERNET, WORKBOOK, AND SMS/PHONE CALLS. SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING: TO PROVIDE EXCELLENT EDUCATION IN THE CLASSROOM, TFB FELLOWS EMPHASIZED THE CULTIVATION OF SOCIO-EMOTIONAL SKILLS AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SECURE, NURTURING, AND ENJOYABLE LEARNING ATMOSPHERE FOR STUDENTS. AS A RESULT, A NOTABLE 93% OF STUDENTS IN TFB CLASSROOMS CHARACTERIZED THEIR TEACHERS AS BOTH ENCOURAGING AND SUPPORTIVE.CAREER COUNSELING: IN SEPTEMBER 2023, WE CELEBRATED GLOBAL VOLUNTEER DAY WITH DHL UNDER THE GO TEACH INITIATIVE TO ENHANCE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND EMPLOYABILITY. THE EMPLOYEES OF DHL BANGLADESH SHARED KNOWLEDGE, INFORMATION, AND IDEAS CONCERNING THE REALM OF WORK AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT WITH THE STUDENTS OF GRADES 6 AND 7.CLIMATE EDUCATION: FROM 2023, TFB FELLOWS HAVE INCORPORATED CLIMATE COMPONENTS TO THEIR LESSON PLANS ACROSS ALL SUBJECTS LIKE BANGLA, ENGLISH, AND MATHEMATICS SO THAT OUR STUDENTS GAIN AN AWARENESS OF CLIMATE CHANGE WHILE STUDYING THEIR CORE SUBJECTS TO ACCELERATE THEIR FOUNDATIONAL LEARNING. THEY ALSO CELEBRATED THE STUDENT-LED CLIMATE WEEK CELEBRATION FOR A WEEK THAT INSPIRED 1,500 STUDENTS IN AROUND 22 SCHOOLS TO BUILD CLIMATE-INTEGRATED LESSONS AND CLIMATE-INFORMED HABITS AMONG ALL THE STUDENTS, INCLUDING THEIR COMMUNITY MEMBERS. PROJECTS/ EVENTSIN JANUARY 2023, TFB PARTICIPATED IN THE EDUCATION SUMMIT ORGANIZED BY THE CAMPAIGN ALLIANCE AND IS AN ONGOING MEMBER OF THE SAFE BACK TO SCHOOL INITIATIVE. ALONGSIDE 21 NATIONAL NGOS, INCLUDING TFB, WE ACTIVELY COLLECT PRIMARY DATA TO ANALYZE EDUCATION GAPS AND COLLABORATE TO SAFELY REOPEN SCHOOLS. OUR COMMITMENT EXTENDS TO ADDRESSING CHALLENGES IN QUALITY AND INCLUSIVE EDUCATION THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS WITH NGOS AND THE GOVERNMENT TO CREATE A JOYFUL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL CHILDREN IN BANGLADESH.IN FEBRUARY 2023, TEACH FOR BANGLADESH CELEBRATED THE EVENT OF 10 YEARS CELEBRATION & ALUMNI INDUCTION OF 2023. THE EVENT, GRACED BY HONORABLE EDUCATION MINISTER DR. DIPU MONI, FEATURED SPECIAL GUESTS INCLUDING U.S AMBASSADOR TO BANGLADESH H.E PETER D. HAAS, TEACH FOR ALL CEO WENDY KOPP, AND BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER ROBERT CHATTERTON DICKSON. DR. DIPU MONI HIGHLIGHTED TFB'S IMPACT ON BANGLADESH'S EDUCATION, WHILE WENDY KOPP EMPHASIZED THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATIONAL EQUITY AND COLLECTIVE LEADERSHIP.AT TEACH FOR BANGLADESH, WE BELIEVE IN EVERY CHILD'S LIMITLESS POTENTIAL. ALONGSIDE ACADEMIC SUPPORT, OUR FELLOWS ENGAGE STUDENTS IN THE 'CAPSTONE PROJECT', WHERE FELLOWS AND STUDENTS WORK TOGETHER TO ADDRESS COMMUNITY CHALLENGES ALIGNED WITH SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS, AIMING FOR INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS. FROM JULY 2023- SEPTEMBER 2023, OVER 100 FELLOWS HAVE COLLABORATED WITH AROUND 9,314 STUDENTS WITH 72 PROJECTS TO DRIVE POSITIVE SOCIAL CHANGE BY TACKLING COMMUNITY CHALLENGES. AS A RESULT, OUR FELLOWS AND STUDENTS MADE A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON APPROXIMATELY 53,000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN DHAKA AND CHATTOGRAM. TFB SUPPORTS ITS GRADUATES WITH TRANSITION ASSISTANCE AND CAREER GUIDANCE, INCLUDING SESSIONS LIKE THE DHL CAREER COUNSELING SESSION AND MENTORSHIP PROGRAMS. IN MARCH 2023, THE ALUMNI IMPACT TEAM ARRANGED A GATHERING AT THE TFB OFFICE, WHERE 60 ALUMNI CAME TOGETHER TO REFLECT ON THEIR IDENTITIES AND DISCUSS SKILL DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE SUPPORTIVE ALUMNI COMMUNITY. FELLOWSHIP RECRUITMENT, SELECTION AND MATRICULATION69 FELLOWS OF THE 2023 COHORT COMPLETED THEIR WINTER ACADEMY IN DECEMBER 2022 AND STARTED TEACHING IN RESPECTIVE SCHOOLS FROM JANUARY 2023. FROM JANUARY TO SEPTEMBER 2023, OUR 9TH AND 10TH COHORTS CONTINUED TO TEACH IN THEIR PLACEMENT SCHOOLS. TFB COMPLETED THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS FOR THE 2024 COHORT, MAKING OUR 11TH COHORT OF FELLOWS. TFB'S RECRUITMENT, SELECTION, AND MATRICULATION TEAM REVIEWED 9,192 FELLOWSHIP REGISTRATIONS OVER THE PAST RECRUITMENT YEAR. FROM THIS POOL, 158 CANDIDATES SUCCESSFULLY NAVIGATED THE FOUR-STAGE RIGOROUS SELECTION PROCESS AND HAVE RECEIVED OFFERS. AMONG THEM 85 FELLOWS WERE RECRUITED. THE RECRUITMENT TEAM MADE 11 PARTNERSHIPS WITH DIFFERENT UNIVERSITIES AND CLUBS INCLUDING DHAKA UNIVERSITY CAREER CLUB, JUDS, CUDS, CUMUNA, MARKETING SOCIETY FOR LEADERSHIP PROLIFERATION, BUET CAREER CLUB, BUP DEVELOPMENT LEADERS CLUB, IUB TOAST MASTER, BIZBEE, AUWDS, EDU BUSINESS CLUB. FUNDRAISING AND PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023, TFB SUCCESSFULLY MET THE FUNDRAISING GOAL OF NEARLY $1.3 MILLION. TFB SUCCESSFULLY RENEWED OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH UNILEVER TO CELEBRATE DOVE DAY WITH OUR STUDENTS, FOCUSING ON PROMOTING BODY POSITIVITY AND SELF-ESTEEM.TFB PARTNERED WITH GOETHE INSTITUTE FOR A SCIENCE FILM FESTIVAL TO CELEBRATE FILM FESTIVALS FOR OUR STUDENTS, FOCUSING ON RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE THROUGH SHORT FILMS.TFB ALSO DEEPENED OUR TIES WITH EXISTING DONORS SUCH AS THE INTERNET SOCIETY FOUNDATION, DHL, AND TEACH FOR ALL.TFB EXPANDED OUR PROGRAM TO TFBS THIRD REGION, COXS BAZAR, AND RECRUITED CANDIDATES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE WORLD'S LARGEST REFUGEE SETTLEMENT WITH OVER 1 MILLION ROHINGYA REFUGEES. THIS REGION IN BANGLADESH FACES SIGNIFICANT EDUCATIONAL CHALLENGES, EXACERBATED BY THE INFLUX OF REFUGEES, LEADING TO THE DESTABILIZATION OF HOST COMMUNITIES. STUDENTS IN COX'S BAZAR CURRENTLY RANK SECOND TO LAST IN READING PROFICIENCY AMONG 64 DISTRICTS IN BANGLADESH, PERSISTING AS A LONG-STANDING ISSUE SINCE THE COUNTRY'S INCEPTION. THE FIRST COHORT OF FELLOWS IN COX'S BAZAR WILL TEACH IN SCHOOLS IN JANUARY 2024.ADDITIONALLY, TFB IS PURSUING OTHER POTENTIAL DONORS TO EXPAND OUR IMPACT IN THE NORTH BENGAL REGION.
