IN 2021 WE PUBLISHED A SEVEN-PART SERIES CALLED EVICTION EPIDEMIC, CHRONICLING HOW COVID-19 THRUST THOUSANDS OF NEW MEXICANS INTO ECONOMIC TURMOIL AND HOUSING INSECURITY. WE COLLECTED DATA FOR EVERY EVICTION FILED IN NEW MEXICO OVER THE PAST 10 YEARS AND CREATED A PUBLICLY-ACCESSIBLE DATABASE. WE WROTE ABOUT EDUCATION THE BATTLES OVER TEXTBOOKS AND CRITICAL RACE THEORY; THE CHILDREN WHO HAVE DISAPPEARED FROM SCHOOL ATTENDANCE ROLLS ON THE NAVAJO NATION; THE THOUSANDS OF AT-RISK STUDENTS WHO STILL HAVE NO ACCESS TO THE INTERNET, MAKING REMOTE LEARNING ALL BUT IMPOSSIBLE. WE PRODUCED WEBINARS ON PHOTOJOURNALISM AND CLIMATE CHANGE. OUR STORIES WERE PUBLISHED BY EVERY NEWS OUTLET IN NEW MEXICO AND BEYOND, INCLUDING THE GUARDIAN, USA TODAY, ROLLING STONE AND OTHER PUBLICATIONS.
