DURING THE FISCAL YEAR 2021-2022, THE WATSONVILLE FILM FESTIVAL PRESENTED TWO FREE MULTIMEDIA EVENTS AT THE WATSONVILLE PLAZA, CELEBRANDO LA CULTURA IN SEPTEMBER 2021, AND THE 4TH ANNUAL DIA DE MUERTOS CELEBRATION IN LATE OCTOBER 2021. BOTH EVENTS INCLUDED VIRTUAL PROGRAMS, LIVE MUSIC AND DANCE PERFORMANCES, FILM SCREENINGS AND ONLINE CONVERSATIONS IN COLLABORATION WITH SEVERAL ARTISTS AND ORGANIZATIONS. MORE THAN 2,344 PEOPLE ATTENDED THESE EVENTS IN-PERSON AND VIRTUALLY. IN MARCH 2022, WE CELEBRATED OUR 10TH ANNIVERSARY BY PRESENTING OUR ANNUAL FILM FESTIVAL BOTH ONLINE AND IN-PERSON. WE PRESENTED 40 FILMS. OUR FREE FESTIVAL REACHED 4,835 VIEWERS ONLINE AND 350 PEOPLE IN PERSON. WE INVITED LOS ANGELES-BASED PLAYWRIGHT AND SCREENWRITER JOSEFINA LOPEZ TO BE OUR SPECIAL GUEST FOR A CELEBRATION AT THE MELLO CENTER MARCH 12. AFTER YEARS OF PLANNING, WE LAUNCHED THE CINE SE PUEDE FELLOWSHIP, AN INITIATIVE TO SUPPORT A COHORT OF LOCAL EMERGING FILMMAKERS TO PURSUE PROFESSIONAL CAREERS. WE PROVIDE INDUSTRY CONNECTIONS, WORKSHOPS, MENTORSHIP AND FUNDING FOR UP TO $1000 TO SEVEN FELLOWS FOR ONE YEAR. IN MAY, WE PARTNERED FOR THE THIRD YEAR WITH THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT TO CO-PRESENT PVUSD'S OSCARS NIGHT, SHOWCASING THE FILMS OF ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS AT THE MELLO CENTER. ALL OUR PROGRAMS ARE FREE OF CHARGE, WE ACCEPT DONATIONS.
