THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CINEMATOGRAPHERS ("ASC") IS ACTIVELY INVOLVED WITH TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION, AND PROMOTING THE ROLE OF THE CINEMATOGRAPHER AROUND THE WORLD.ASC TECHNOLOGY COMMITIEE - THROUGH ITS WORK ON SUCH PROJECTS AS THE DIGITAL CINEMA INITIATIVE, THE ASC TECHNOLOGY COMMITIEE IS AT THE FOREFRONT OF THE DIGITAL REVOLUTION HIDING THE MOTION PICTURE INDUSTRY TODAY THIS COMMITIEE CONTINUES TO PARTNER WITH INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS IN EVALUATING AND INFLUENCING THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW DIGITAL TOOLS.AWARD COMMITTEE - CONTINUING IT'S TWENTY THREE YEAR TRADITIONS, GIVES RECOGNITION TO THE BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY ANNUALLY AT THE ASC AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING CINEMATOGRAPHY.EDUCATION & OUTREACH - PROGRAMS A BUSY SLATE OF EVENTS FOR EMERGING FILMMAKERS AND INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS IN AN EFFORT TO PROMOTE GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF THE CINEMATOGRAPHERS CRAFT.
