OUR PRIMARY FITNESS PROGRAMMING COMES IN THE FORM OF BICYCLING, SPECIFICALLY ON THE 1/10TH OF A MILE INDOOR VELODROME. WE OFFER CYCLING CLASSES AND PROGRAMS FOR BEGINNERS 36 YEARS OLD, EMERGING RIDERS 717 YEARS OLD, AND EXPERIENCED COMPETITORS OF ALL AGES. DURING THE SUMMER, WE OFFER FREE CYCLING CAMPS, INTENDING TO TEACH ALL CHILDREN HOW TO RIDE A BICYCLE A SKILL THEY CAN DO FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIFE. WE ALSO TEACH THE CAMPERS AS WELL AS ALL OF OUR YOUTH ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT AND SHARE FACTS FROM DETROIT'S CYCLING HISTORY THAT SERVE AS INSPIRATION AND A ROLE MODEL. NUTRITION AND HEALTHY CHOICES ARE ALSO PART OF THE 4DAY SESSIONS. IN ADDITION TO THE CYCLING, WE ALSO HAVE DEDICATED SPACE THE EDDIE TOLAN OVAL FOR RUNNING, WALKING OR INLINE SKATING. THIS 1/8TH MILE CEMENT TRACK IS UNIQUE IN THE AREA, AND A YEARROUND OPTION FOR STARTING AND MAINTAINING A FITNESS ROUTINE. IN THIS SPACE WE ALSO HOST HEALTH FAIRS, COMMUNITY GATHERINGS, ETC.
IN ADDITION, ON CERTAIN WEEKENDS DETROIT FITNESS FOUNDATION WILL HOST CYCLING COMPETITIONS THAT WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY MEMBERS WITH DEMONSTRATIONS OF THE LEVEL OF SKILL THAT CAN BE ACHIEVED IN THE SPORT OF CYCLING. DETROIT FITNESS FOUNDATION WILL ALSO WORK WITH YOUTH WHO ACHIEVE A HIGH LEVEL OF SKILL TO BE ENTERED IN LOCAL, REGIONAL, OR NATIONAL COMPETITIONS. IN SOME CASES, DEPENDING ON FINANCIAL NEED, DETROIT FITNESS FOUNDATION MAY PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO YOUTH WHO ARE UNABLE TO AFFORD THE COSTS TO PARTICIPATE IN SUCH COMPETITIONS.
