MVCHP HAS GROWN AN ORGANIZATIONAL BASE OF OVER 40 AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS AND OVER 100 COMMITTED COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO DEDICATE THEMSELVES TO THE SHARED MVCHP MISSION. MVCHP SPONSORS HIGHLY ATTENDED MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS TO SHARE CURRENT COMMUNITY ACTIVITY INFORMATION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS, ASSESS LOCAL NEEDS, PROPOSE SOLUTIONS, AND PRESENT FOCUSED INFORMATION FROM COMMUNITY EXPERTS. THE MVCHP'S BOARD CONDUCTS MONTHLY BUSINESS MEETINGS MANAGING MVCHP OPERATIONS, FINANCES, AND CORE GOALS. THREE MVCHP COMMITTEES FOCUS WORK ON KEY AREAS: (A) UNMET NEEDS, (B) PUBLIC AWARENESS, (C) HOPE COMMITTEE. MVCHP COLLABORATES MEMBER ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE STATEWIDE CONTINUUM OF CARE SYSTEM TO COORDINATE HOMELESS SURVEYS OF NEED ACROSS THE REGION. SUSTAINING A VIABLE, SERVICE-DRIVEN NETWORK IS MVCHP PRINCIPAL AIM. MVCHP'S HIGH LEVEL OF ACTIVE MEMBER PARTICIPATION EVIDENCES THIS VIABILITY. MVCHP COORDINATED THE VARIOUS CONTRIBUTED SERVICES OF ITS MEMBERS, THAT MEET THE NEEDS OF HOMELESS PEOPLE AND EFFECT POSITIVE CHANGES IN THEIR LIVES. THE MVCHP'S WEBSITE (WWW.MVCHP.COM/RESOURCES) POSTS CRITICAL ACCESS POINTS TO SERVICES, INFORMING BOTH HOMELESS PEOPLE AND SERVICE PROVIDERS ON HOW TO CONNECT PEOPLE TO THE SERVICES THEY SEEK. MVCHP PROVIDES A CLEARINGHOUSE FOR PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL EVENTS FOR INDIVIDUALS IN NEED, OFFERING A DISCIPLINED FOCUS ON COORDINATING ACTIVITIES TO ELIMINATE UNWANTED DUPLICATION OF EFFORT, RESULTING IN LOST EFFICIENCY. DURING 2022, MVCHP DEVELOPED A PILOT PROJECT TO ADDRESS SOME OF THE TRANSPORTATION CHALLENGES FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE IN THE BISMARCK-MANDAN AREA. THE BIS-MAN TRANSIT AUTHORITY HAS PARTNERED TO OFFER FREE BUS RIDES FOR HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS SERVED BY OUR MEMBER AGENCIES. MVCHP CONTRIBUTED 5000 TO START THE PROJECT, WHICH CONTINUED THROUGHOUT 2023. ADDITIONAL FUNDING WILL BE PROVIDED IN 2024. MVCHP CONTRACTED WITH CONSENSUS COUNCIL TO REINSTATE AND GROW THE FEMA EMERGENCY FOOD AND SHELTER PROGRAM, OFFERING FEDERAL FUNDING FOR SHELTERING AND FOOD SECURITY. IN 2023, THE REGIONAL EFSP PROGRAM SUCCESSFULLY ACCESSED 37,127 TO DISTRIBUTE TO 11 LOCAL RECIPIENT ORGANIZATIONS WHO DIRECTLY DISTRIBUTED THESE FUNDS IN THE FORM OF SHELTERING, MASS FEEDING, AND OTHER FOODS.
