TO OPERATE A BIPARTISAN CENTER OF STUDIES TO SUPPORT THE ADVANCEMENT OF PUBLIC POLICY AND TO PROMOTE PUBLIC SERVICE.

FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4A:LEON PANETTA LECTURE SERIES - EACH SPRING THE PANETTA INSTITUTE BRINGS TOGETHER NATIONALLY KNOWN GOVERNMENT AND POLICY LEADERS TO DISCUSS CURRENT ISSUES WITH CENTRAL COAST STUDENTS AND MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. THE PROGRAMS ARE BROADCAST THROUGHOUT CALIFORNIA. BY THE END OF THE 2022 SEASON, MORE THAN 260 SPEAKERS HAD PARTICIPATED IN THE TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF THIS PROGRAM. DUE TO COVID-19 ALL FOUR LECTURES WERE HELD ONLINE IN 2022.


FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4B:CONGRESSIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM - THIS PROGRAM HAS DEVELOPED A REPUTATION AS THE PREMIER INTERN PROGRAM IN THE NATION AND PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR QUALIFIED STUDENTS FROM ALL ECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS TO WORK IN WASHINGTON, DC AND PARTICIPATE IN THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS FIRST HAND. BY 2022,552 STUDENTS HAD BEEN PLACED IN THE OFFICES OF MEMBERS OF THE CALIFORNIA CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION THROUGH THIS PROGRAM. IN 2022, 25 STUDENTS WERE PLACED IN CONGRESSIONAL OFFICES.


FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4C:YOUTH CIVIC ENGAGEMENT RESEARCH:EVERY SPRING,THE INSTITUTE CONDUCTS A NATIONWIDE SURVEY OF COLLEGE STUDENTS TO HELP GUIDE THE CURRICULUM AND PROGRAMS, THIS STUDY EXPLORES THE ATTITUDES AND OPINIONS OF COLLEGE STUDENTS ON MANY TOPICS, INCLUDING CURRENT NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ISSUES, SOCIAL, POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC TRENDS, LEVEL OF POLITICAL INVOLVEMENT AND CAREER EXPECTATIONS. FOR TWENTY-TWO YEARS, THE INSTITUTE'S NATIONWIDE POLL HAS BECOME A HIGHLY RESPECTED SOURCE OF INFORMATION FOR ACADEMICS, RESEARCHERS, POLITICAL SCIENTISTS, AND POLICY MAKERS AND JOURNALISTS INTERESTED IN ANALYZING TWO DECADES OF COLLECTED DATA.SEE SCHEDULE O FOR ADDITONAL PROGRAM SERVICE ACTIVITIES.
