TO SUPPORT THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES BY FUNDING EQUIPMENT PURCHASES AND OTHER EXPENDITURES THAT CAN NOT OTHERWISE BE FUNDED THROUGH THE COUNTY BUDGET.

THE SHERIFF'S ADVISORY BOARD OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY (SCCSAB) HAS ONLY ONE CLIENT AND ONE PROGRAM: - THE CLIENT IS THE OFFICE OF THE SHERIFF OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY - THE PROGRAM CONSISTS OF FUNDING PURCHASES THAT THE SHERIFF HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FUND OUT OF NORMAL COUNTY BUDGET ALLOCATIONS. OUR LEVEL OF PROGRAM EXPENDITURE EACH YEAR IS DETERMINED BY THE NUMBER AND SIZE OF REQUESTS WE RECEIVE FROM THE SHERIFF. THE PRIMARY INTENT IS TO PROVIDE EQUIPMENT OR FACILITIES THAT WILL ENHANCE THE TRAINING AND SAFETY OF OFFICERS IN THE FIELD. SCCSAB HELPS THE SHERIFF'S SPECIAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (SERT) SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM, DIVE TEAM, CRIME INVESTIGATION, BOMB SQUAD AND THE K-9 UNIT, AS WELL AS OTHER SPECIALIZED UNITS. THE BOARD ALSO SUPPLEMENTS THE FUNDING REQUIRED FOR THE SHERIFF'S FIRING RANGE FACILITY. THE CONTRIBUTIONS MADE OVER THE YEARS HELPED PROVIDE A SAFER WORKING ENVIRONMENT FOR THE SHERIFF OFFICERS IN THE FIELD. THE SHERIFF'S ADVISORY BOARD CONTRIBUTED POLARIS UTV VEHICLE, SPONSOR OF REGIONAL SWAT COMPETITION, SNAPSAFE LOCK BOXES TO SHERIFF DEPUTIES, HELICOPTER MONITOR WITH SOFTWARE. IN ADDITION, THE BOARD PROVIDED RED ROCK ROVER SLING BAGS TO CORRECTIONAL ACADEMY GRADUATES AND A CUSTODY K-9 UNIT. THEY ALSO FURNISHED THE SHERIFF DEPUTIES WITH ELCAN PHANTOM IR THERMAL BINOCULARS AND OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES. THE ABOVE MENTIONED CONTRIBUTIONS ENHANCED AND IMPROVED THE GENERAL SAFETY AND WELL BEING OF SHERIFF'S OFFICE PERSONNEL AND THE PUBLIC OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY.
