THE YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS (YMCA) IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION FOUNDED IN 1956 AND ORGANIZED UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS. THE YMCA'S MISSION IS TO ADVANCE THEIR CAUSE OF STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY THROUGH YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, HEALTHY LIVING AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. THE YMCA IS A POWERFUL ASSOCIATION OF MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN COMMITTED TO BRINGING ABOUT LASTING PERSONAL AND SOCIAL CHANGE. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT - THE YMCA IS COMMITTED TO NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY CHILD AND TEEN. THEY BELIEVE THAT ALL KIDS DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY CAN ACHIEVE. THAT IS WHY THEY HELP YOUNG PEOPLE CULTIVATE THE VALUES, SKILLS AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, BETTER HEALTH AND EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT. THE YMCA PROGRAMS, SUCH AS COMPETITIVE AND NON-COMPETITIVE YOUTH SPORTS, SUMMER SAFE CAMP AND AQUATICS, OFFER A RANGE OF EXPERIENCES THAT ENRICH COGNITIVE, SOCIAL, PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL GROWTH.
HEALTHY LIVING - THE YMCA IS A LEADING VOICE ON HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. THEY BRING FAMILIES CLOSER TOGETHER, ENCOURAGE GOOD HEALTH AND FOSTER CONNECTIONS THROUGH FITNESS, SPORTS, FUN AND SHARED INTERESTS. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY - THE YMCA BELIEVES IN GIVING BACK AND SUPPORTING OUR NEIGHBORS. THEY HAVE BEEN LISTENING AND RESPONDING TO THEIR COMMUNITIES' MOST CRITICAL SOCIAL NEEDS.
