FORMED TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE THROUGH PROGRAMS AND SERVICES WHICH PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE TO REACH THEIR HIGHEST POTENTIAL, DEVELOP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE OF SELF AND OTHERS, APPRECIATE GOOD HEALTH AND FITNESS, ACQUIRE A VALUE SYSTEM, AND MAINTAIN A SPIRITUAL AWARENESS THAT MANIFESTS ITSELF IN OUR DAILY LIFE.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT - EVEN IN OUR YOUNGEST OF MEMBERS, DEVELOPMENT OF SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY IS IMPORTANT. GUIDANCE, LEADERSHIP, SUPPORT, AND INDIVIDUALIZED ATTENTION HELP TEACH CHILDREN RESPONSIBILITY AND SELF- CONFIDENCE. THE CHILDREN LEARN TO WORK TOGETHER AS MEMBERS OF A TEAM. THE YMCA DEVELOPS A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE THAT CHILDREN WHILE PLAYING CAN LEARN TO BE LOYAL, FAIR, TOLERANT OF OTHERS OPINIONS, AND DEVELOP SOCIALLY. TRAINED COUNSELORS AND INSTRUCTORS CREATE A SAFE, FUN ATMOSPHERE IN OUR STATE LICENSED CHILDCARE PROGRAM.WITH SAFETY AND QUALITY CARE AS OUR HIGHEST PRIORITIES, THE GOLDEN CRESCENT YMCA ASSISTS IN BUILDING PEOPLE WITH A SOLID FOUNDATION TO REACH THEIR HIGHEST POTENTIAL. IN MANY INSTANCES THESE PROGRAMS SERVE AS CHILD CARE FOR PARENTS IN THE SUMMERTIME, ALLOWING THEM TO REMAIN GAINFULLY EMPLOYED. THE PROGRAM IS OFFERED ON A BELOW-COST BASIS TO PARENTS UNABLE TO AFFORD THE FULL FEE. REVERING NATURE AND THE FULLNESS OF GOD'S BOUNTY IS A MAJOR PROGRAM GOAL FOR THE YMCA.THE YMCA'S DAY CAMP AND SPORTS CAMP PROGRAMS ARE EDUCATIONAL; THEY PROMOTE SPIRITUAL AWARENESS, MENTAL DEVELOPMENT, PHYSICAL WELL BEING, SOCIAL GROWTH, AND A RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.THROUGH A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES AND THE USE OF NATURAL SURROUNDINGS, THESE PROGRAMS SEEK TO HELP PARTICIPANTS ACHIEVE THEIR FULLEST POTENTIAL IN SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY.
FITNESS - ADVOCATING A COMMITMENT TO A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE WITH A CLEAR FOCUS ON SPIRIT, MIND AND BOD. THE GOLDEN CRESCENT YMCA INVOLVES THOUSANDS OF YOUTH AND ADULTS IN INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP FITNESS EVERY YEAR. COMPONENTS OF OUR HEALTH AND FITNESS PROGRAMS INCLUDE NUTRITION AWARENESS, WEIGHT MANAGEMENT, EXERCISE, AEROBICS AND ADVOCATING HEALTHIER LIFESTYLES. THE FUNDAMENTAL YMCA GOAL OF DEVELOPING PHYSICAL FITNESS, MORAL VALUES AND MENTAL WELL BEING HAS REMAINED THE SAME THROUGHOUT OUR HISTORY.
AQUATICS - THE YMCA IS AMERICA'S FAVORITE PLACE TO SWIM WITH CERTIFIED LIFEGUARDS AND INSTRUCTORS WHO HELP BUILD SELF-CONFIDENCE AND TRUST IN OTHERS. FROM TINY TOTS TO SENIOR CITIZENS, THE YMCA AQUATIC PROGRAM SPANS A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES. WITH PROGRAMS THAT TEACH SWIMMING SKILL, LIFESAVING SKILLS, AND FITNESS SKILLS, THE YMCA_ PROGRAM HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE . IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING SPECIFIC SWIMMING AND WATER SAFETY SKILLS, THE AQUATIC PROGRAMS PROMOTE GOOD HEALTH, TEAMWORK, AND LEADERSHIP.
