PROJECT SAFEGUARD EMPOWERS AND PARTNERS WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE, HELPING THEM NAVIGATE A COURSE OF SURVIVOR-DRIVEN JUSTICE THROUGH EXPERT, TRAUMA-INFORMED LEGAL ADVOCACY AND REPRESENTATION.

IN 2023, PSG PROVIDED MORE THAN 3,300 CIVIL LEGAL SERVICES TO 787 INDIVIDUALS. 92.8% WERE SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, 2.9% WERE SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND 3% WERE SURVIVORS OF STALKING. STAFF ATTORNEYS PROVIDED UNBUNDLED LEGAL SERVICES TO 158 CLIENTS. PRO-BONO ATTORNEYS PROVIDED LEGAL ADVICE TO MORE THAN 106 PSG CLIENTS THROUGH ENGLISH AND SPANISH DIVORCE AND CUSTODY. SERVICES PROVIDED BY NON-ATTORNEY LEGAL ADVOCATES INCLUDED SAFETY PLANNING, ASSISTANCE IN PETITIONING THE COURT FOR CIVIL PROTECTION ORDERS, ORIENTATION TO THE CIVIL LEGAL SYSTEM, ACCOMPANIMENT TO COURT HEARINGS, AND REFERRAL TO OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES. SERVICES PROVIDED BY ATTORNEYS INCLUDED REPRESENTATION AT PERMANENT PROTECTION ORDER HEARINGS, REPRESENTATION.
