MISSION - ASSISTANCE LEAGUE VOLUNTEERS TRANSFORMING LIVES OF CHILDREN AND ADULTS THROUGH COMMUNITY PROGRAMS. VISION - ESSENTIAL NEEDS ARE MET IN OUR COMMUNITY AND FAMILIES FLOURISH.

OPERATION SCHOOL BELL (1991)THE OPERATION SCHOOL BELL PROGRAM DRESSES CHILDREN FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS DESIGNATED AS TITLE 1. AT-RISK CHILDREN IDENTIFIED BY SCHOOL PERSONNEL AS HAVING INADEQUATE OR INAPPROPRIATE CLOTHING FOR SCHOOL. EACH CHILD SELECTS SETS OF NEW SCHOOL CLOTHES, A PAIR OF SHOES, JACKET, SOCKS, UNDERWEAR, PERSONAL CARE KIT, SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND BOOKS. SCHOOL UNIFORMS ARE PROVIDED FOR TWO SCHOOL DISTRICTS WITH UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS. SUPPLEMENTAL EVENTS PROVIDE SHOES AND SOCKS TO CHILDREN IN NEED. IN 2022- 2023, 16,868 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS WERE PROVIDED CLOTHING, AND 112 MEMBER VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED 6190 VOLUNTEER HOURS IN SUPPORT OF THIS PROGRAM.


TOGS FOR TOTS (1988)THE TOGS FOR TOTS PROGRAM PROVIDES NEW CLOTHING, A PERSONAL CARE KIT, JACKET, AND READING BOOK FOR NEW BABIES AND PRESCHOOL CHILDREN, AND SCHOOL UNIFORMS ARE PROVIDED TO HEAD START PROGRAMS IN TITLE I SCHOOLS. THIS PROGRAM IS CARRIED OUT IN COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES AND SEVERAL SCHOOLS WHOSE STAFF DETERMINE WHICH AT-RISK CHILDREN NEED THIS ASSISTANCE. IN 2022-2023, 5574 CHILDREN WERE SERVED BY TOGS FOR TOTS, AND 65 MEMBER VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED 3345 HOURS IN SUPPORT OF THIS PROGRAM.


SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (2004)THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO QUALIFIED STUDENTS ATTENDING COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES IN BEXAR COUNTY AND GED SUPPORT FOR THOSE PARTICIPATING IN THE BEXAR COUNTY EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM. IN 2022-2023, 13 RECIPIENTS RECEIVED THIS SUPPORT, AND 10 MEMBER VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED 101 HOURS IN SUPPORT OF THIS PROGRAM.
