THE THEATER'S MISSION IS TO PROMOTE AN APPRECIATION FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS IN THE COMMUNITY, AMONG ADULTS AND STUDENTS, AND TO PROVIDE INCREDIBLE EVENTS AND WORLD-CLASS ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE RESIDENTS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA.

THE LUTCHER THEATER PRESENTS A PERFORMING ARTS SERIES THAT IS ATTENDED BY ADULTS AND FAMILIES. OFFERINGS INCLUDE NATIONAL TOURING BROADWAY PRODUCTIONS, MUSICAL ARTISTS, DANCE, DRAMA, AND OTHER VARIOUS EVENTS. PRE-SHOW LECTURES, POST-SHOW DISCUSSIONS, MEET/GREET OPPORTUNITIES, AND MASTER CLASSES ARE SOMETIMES OFFERED. DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, 2021 BEGAN WITH ALTERNATIVE COVID-SAFE PROGRAMMING INCLUDING AN OUTDOOR DRIVE-UP STYLE MOVIE FEATURING THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA AND AN OUTDOOR CONCERT, AN EVENING WITH THE QUEBE SISTERS. WHEN IT WAS SAFE TO GATHER IN LARGE GROUPS AGAIN, THE LUTCHER REOPENED WITH ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL, CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE, AND HAIRSPRAY.
THE LUTCHER THEATER PRESENTS A DAYTIME PERFORMING ARTS SERIES, LUTCHER INCREDIBLE KIDS EVENTS, FOR AREA STUDENTS AND THE PUBLIC. COMPANIES OFTEN CONDUCT PRE-SHOW AUDIENCE INTERACTION OPPORTUNITIES AND POST-SHOW DISCUSSIONS WITH CORRELATING STUDY GUIDES, WHICH ARE MADE AVAILABLE FOR TEACHERS ON THE LUTCHER THEATER WEBSITE. DURING THE PANDEMIC, THE LUTCHER OFFERED A VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP GIVING STUDENTS EXCLUSIVE ACCESS TO DALLAS CHILDREN'S THEATER'S PRODUCTION OF MISS NELSON HAS A FIELD DAY. THE LUTCHER WELCOMED STUDENTS BACK INSIDE THE THEATER WITH JANET'S PLANET - A TOUR THROUGH THE SOLAR SYSTEM AND A VERY ELECTRIC CHRISTMAS.
