THE TEACHING GARDEN AND VISITOR CENTER IS A DEMONSTRATION GARDEN IN WOODWARD PARK, STAFFED BY WELL-TRAINED VOLUNTEERS WHO SHARE THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND LOVE OF GARDENING WITH THE PUBLIC THROUGH TOURS, DEMONSTRATIONS, CLASSES, AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES.
THE FRIENDS OF WOODWARD PARK PROGRAM IS A SUPPORT GROUP FOR WOODWARD PARK REPRESENTING TULSA GARDEN CENTER AND SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS, WITH THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES: 1) TO PROMOTE AWARENESS OF WOODWARD PARK, TO CONSERVE AND PROTECT ITS SPECIAL AND UNIQUE BEAUTY AND WILDLIFE, AND TO CONTINUE ITS PRESERVATION, 2) TO ASSIST IN THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF WOODWARD PARK'S FACILITIES, OPERATIONS AND PROGRAMS, AND 3) TO PROVIDE PASSIVE RECREATION AND EDUCATION TRAINING FOR THE CITIZENS AND VISITORS OF TULSA BY THE PERPETUATION OF WOODWARD PARK'S UNIQUE ENVIRONMENT.
THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND EVENTS CENTER PROGRAM ENCOMPASSES THE NUMEROUS LECTURES, CLASSES, TRAINING, PLANT SHOWS, AND OTHER SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL EVENTS HOSTED BY THE TULSA GARDEN CENTER THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, ALSO INCLUDING MOST ALL EVENTS OFFERED BY OVER 20 AFFILIATED ORGANIZATIONS WHICH CALL THE TULSA GARDEN CENTER HOME SUCH AS THE TULSA AUDUBON SOCIETY, THE TULSA SIERRA CLUB, THE TULSA ROSE SOCIETY, AND THE TULSA GARDEN CLUB, AND LASTLY INCLUDES THE TULSA GARDEN CENTER'S OUTREACH ACTIVITIES WHICH SHOWCASE ALL WOODWARD PARK HISTORICAL BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES AS COMMUNITY EVENT VENUES.
