THE STEPPING STONES ACADEMY AT THE WOODLANDS,INC. WAS ESTABLISHED AS AN EXEMPT ORGANIZATION TO PROVIDE QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND DEVELOPMENT FOR CHILDREN OF WORKING PARENT FAMILIES IN SOUTHERN WEST VIRGINIA. DURING THE TIME PERIOD COVERED BY THIS TAX RETURN, THE ACADEMY PROVIDED EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE & EDUCATION TO THE CHILDREN OF APPROXIMATELY 80 FAMILIES. IN OCTOBER, 2007 WITH GRANTS AND LOANS FROM THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT, THE CONSTRUCTION OF A CHILDCARE & EDUCATIONAL FACILTY WAS COMPLETED AND OPENED TO THE PUBLIC. OBTAINING FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM LOCAL BUSINESSES THAT EMPLOY THE WORKING PARENTS OF THE CHILDREN MAKING USE OF THE FACILITY WAS THE MAJOR REASON WHY THIS ENTITY APPLIED FOR NON-PROFIT STATUS.
