THE FUNK EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION, THROUGH ITS PROGRAM CALLED THE CATTLE SCHOLARS OF HOMESTEAD HELPS LOCAL STUDENTS IMPROVE THEIR SKILLS IN NURTURING STEERS AND ENGAGING IN COMPETITION. THE FOUNDATION MAINTAINS A BARN AND PROVIDES THE COST OF CATTLE, CATTLE CARE AND OTHER COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH SHOWING A CATTLE, WHICH IS OFTENTIMES TOO EXPENSIVE FOR MOST STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN. THE PROGRAM GIVES STUDENTS HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE AND GUIDANCE TO DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS IN THE CARING AND SHOWING OF STEERS.
