TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF ALL PEOPLE BY GATHERING AND DISTRIBUTING, IN AN EFFICIENT AND ACCOUNTABLE MANNER, COMMUNITY RESOURCES WHICH RESPOND TO PRIORITY HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICE NEEDS.

GRANTS TO AGENCIES - AGENCIES APPLY ANNUALLY TO THE UNITED WAY OF IBERIA FOR THEIR PROGRAMS WHICH FIT UNDER THE 501(C)(3) DESRCRIPTION OF BEING A HUMAN SERVICES PROGRAM. VOLUNTEERS WHO REPRESENT A BROAD SPECTRUM OF THE COMMUNITY COMPRISE OUR COMMUNITY INVESTMENT COMMITTEE AND THIS COMMITTEE REVIEWS WRITTEN APPLICATIONS, MAKES SITE VISITS TO WITNESS THE PROGRAM IN OPERATION, INTERVIEWS REPRESENTATIVES OF THE PROGRAMS AND THEN DETERMINES HOW THE FUNDS AVAILABLE ARE DISTRIBUTED AMONGST THOSE WHO APPLIED AND QUALIFIED FOR FUNDING.THE GRANTS ARE DISTRIBUTED IN 12 EQUAL MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2023, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO FOUR ORGANIZATIONS TOTALING $24,000.


COMMUNITY IMPACT WAS ESTABLISHED TO DISTRIBUTE SOME OF THE STAFF SALARIES AND OTHER EXPENSE WHICH DIRECTLY AFFECT CLIENTS AND/OR MAKE A PERMANENT IMPACT WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. EXAMPLE: ACCESS FREEDOM RAMP PROJECT THAT PROVIDED HANDICAP RAMPS TO THOSE CLIENTS WHO HAVE NO ACCESS IN OR OUT OF THEIR HOMES. IN ADDITION, UNITED WAY HOSTS PERIODIC MEETINGS (COMMUNITY RETREAT AND COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS) WHOSE OUTCOMES DIRECTLY AFFECT THE ISSUES MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WISH TO SEE UNITED WAY FOCUS THEIR ENERGIES TO INSTATE POSITIVE, PERMANENT CHANGE FOR ALL RESIDENTS OF THE IBERIA PARISH COMMUNITY.


RESOURCE CENTER - THIS IS AN IN-HOUSE PROGRAM ESTABLISHED TO ASSIST CLIENTS WITH BASIC AND/OR EMERGENCY NEEDS. FUNDS FOR THIS PROGRAM ARE ESTABLISHED THROUGH THE UNITED WAY BUDGET PROCESS AND ARE APPROVED AND MONITORED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS. DISTRIBUTION OF SOME OF THE STAFF SALARIES ARE EXPENSED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM FOR THE TIME SPENT DIRECTLY ASSISTING CLIENTS OR WORKING ON SPECIAL PROJECTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, SUCH AS THE ANNUAL SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE AND HOLIDAY ADOPTIONS.
