RESTORATIVE JUSTICE RE-ENTRY CENTER: THIS PROGRAM SERVES MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE BEING RELEASED FROM PRISON. THEY ARE ASSISTED IN NAVIGATING THROUGH THE MAZE OF RETURNING TO LIFE IN THE COMMUNITY AND WITH THEIR FAMILIES. THEY ARE ASSISTED WITH OBTAINING FOOD BIRTH CERTIFICATES DRIVERS LICENSES MEDICATION HOUSING PROVIDING JOB TRAINING AND REFERRING THEM TO JOB TRAINING AND THEN EMPLOYMENT
THE FOOD PANTRY BEGAN IN 2019 SERVING 30 FAMILIES PER MONTH AND HAS GROWN TO SERVING 600-700 FAMILIES PER MONTH. DRIVE-THRU PANTRIES ARE PROVIDED TWICE A MONTH. PANTRIES ARE ALSO PROVIDED THE MONDAY PRIOR TO THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS. PART OF THE MONIES RECEIVED IS USED TO ASSIST FAMILIES WITH WITH RENT AND UTILITY BILLS.
INTRO TO THE TRADES AND SOFT SKILLS: AN INTRODUCTORY COURSE THAT PROVIDES EMPLOYABILITY AND LIFE SKILLS AN INTRODUCTION INTO ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND VOCATION SKILLED TRADE EMPLOYMENT. THE OBJECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH AN INTRODUCTION INTO THE CRITICAL SKILLS NEEDED TO MANAGE BOTH LIFE AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES. UPON COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE BLACK MEN UNITED PROVIDES ONE ON ONE SUPPORT TO STUDENTS THAT REQUEST IT TO HELP THEM FIND EMPLOYMENT AND ADDITIONAL TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES.
