TO FOSTER BLACK MALE ACHIEVEMENT BY ENHANCING ECONOMIC SOCIAL EDUCATIONAL INCLUSION IN THE U.S. ACCOMPLISHED BY FOCUSING SERVICES PROGRAMS & SUPPORTING THREE CRITICAL AREAS OF EDUCATION WORK & FAMILY.

BMU FOOD PANTRY SERVES APPROXIMATELY 800 HOUSEHOLDS PER MONTH. THAT IS AN INCREASE OF 300 HOUSEHOLDS FROM 2021. OUR PANTRY IS A DRIVE THRU PANTRY 2X'S MO. WALK-INS ARE ACCEPTED DURING THE WEEK. WE HAVE FOUND THAT MANY THAT WE SERVE HAVE SIMILAR CHALLENGES OF FOOD INSECURITIES HOUSING EMPLOYMENT AND HEALTHCARE. FOOD PROVIDED IS CHICKEN FISH AND FRESH PRODUCE. BMU IS LOCATED IN A FOOD DESERT AMONGST MOST VULNERABLE POPULATIONS. THE NEED IS GREAT AND WE HAVE ALREADY OUTGROWN OUR FACILITY.


RESTORATIVE JUSTICE RE-ENTRY CENTER FIRST LAUNCHED IN 2019. MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE BEEN OR ARE ABOUT TO BE RELEASED FROM PRISON ARE ASSISTED. AN INTERNAL NAVIGATOR AND AN EXTERNAL NAVIGATOR HELP THESE MEN AND WOMEN NAVIGATE THROUGH THE MAZE OF PUTTING THEIR LIVES AND THEIR FAMILIES LIVES BACK IN ORDER SO THEY CAN BE SUCCESSFUL WHICH REDUCES RECIDIVISM. THEY ARE ASSISTED WITH JOB TRAINING MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES FOOD INSECURITIES EMPLOYMENT AND MORE. CLASSES ARE ALSO TAUGHT IN THE YOUTH PRISON IN OMAHA. PROGRAM WILL BE EXPANDED IN FEBRUARY 2023.
