EMPLOYMENT & TRAINING PROGRAM - A PROGRAM DESIGNED TO SUPPORT PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IN OBTAINING AND MAINTAINING EMPLOYMENT IN THE COMMUNITY. THE LEVEL OF SUPPORT PROVIDED ON THE JOB CAN RANGE FROM SHORT TO LONGER TERM, DEPENDING ON INDIVIDUAL NEED. BENEFITS ANALYSIS REVIEWS AND INDIVIDUALIZED SOCIAL SKILLS TRAINING ARE ALSO AVAILABLE THROUGH THIS PROGRAM. A TARGETED JOB TRAINING AND PLACEMENT PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS BASED ON A NATIONAL INITIATIVE CALLED PROJECT SEARCH IS ALSO OFFERED THROUGH THE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING PROGRAM. IN 2020, 367 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED.
GOODNEIGHBOR PROGRAM - THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES COMMUNITY AGENCIES WITH $25.00 GIFT CERTIFICATES TO OUR GOODWILL RETAIL STORES & TRAINING CENTERS. THE CERTIFICATES ARE DISTRIBUTED TO INDIVIDUALS IN NEED (VICTIMS OF NATURAL DISASTERS, PEOPLE WHO NEED ATTIRE FOR JOB INTERVIEWS, RECENT PAROLEES, LOW-INCOME FAMILIES WHO NEED CLOTHES FOR THEIR CHILDREN, ETC.) WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM PURCHASING ITEMS AT OUR STORES. CLIENT NEED IS ASSESSED BY THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AGENCIES THAT WE PARTNER WITH. EACH MEMBER OF A FAMILY IS ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE. IN 2020, THIS VOUCHER PROGRAM PROVIDED $582,532 IN FREE MERCHANDISE TO 23,187 PEOPLE THROUGHOUT GOODWILL NCW'S 35-COUNTY REGION.
WORK SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM - A PROGRAM AT ALL OUR RETAIL STORES & TRAINING CENTERS THAT PARTNERS WITH SCHOOLS AND AGENCIES THROUGHOUT OUR 35-COUNTY SERVICE DELIVERY AREA TO PROVIDE WORK EXPERIENCE AND JOB TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT. IN 2020, THIS PROGRAM SERVED 650 INDIVIDUALS, WHO RECEIVED A TOTAL OF 131,550 HOURS OF SUPERVISED WORK EXPERIENCE.
