THE CANCER RESOURCE CENTERS PROVIDE INDIVIDUALIZED PATIENT NAVIGATION SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 500 PEOPLE EACH YEAR WHO ARE FACING CANCER IN MENDOCINO COUNTY. CRC'S PATIENT NAVIGATION SERVICES INCLUDE MEDICAL APPOINTMENT PREPARATION, ACCOMPANIMENT, RECORDING AND SUMMARIZING. TRAINED PATIENT NAVIGATORS ACCOMPANY CANCER PATIENTS TO CRITICAL MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS TO TAKE NOTES, ENSURING THAT EACH PATIENT COMPREHENDS THEIR DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT RECOMMENDATION AND OPTIONS. ADDITIONALLY, CRC SPONSORS PROFESSIONALLY FACILITATED CANCER SUPPORT GROUPS WHICH MEET REGULARLY IN THE INLAND AND COASTAL OFFICES.
CANCER RESOURCE CENTERS PROVIDE MODEST DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR CRITICAL NEEDS SUCH AS TRANSPORTATION AND LODGING, EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE, AND PERSONAL CARE ITEMS FOR CANCER PATIENTS WHO ARE IN FINANCIAL NEED.
