OUTREACH AND OPERATIONS: THE YOLO BASIN FOUNDATION PROVIDED OUTREACH TO YOLO BYPASS STAKEHOLDERS THROUGH FACILITATING THE YOLO BYPASS WORKING GROUP A FORUM FOR PEOPLE WITH INTERESTS IN LAND MANAGEMENT IN THE YOLO BYPASS. THE FOUNDATION ALSO PARTICIPATED IN SEVERAL PLANNING EFFORTS RELATED TO WETLANDS CONSERVATION INCLUDING THE YOLO BYPASS FISHERIES ENHANCEMENT PLANNING TEAM AND THE DELTA CONSERVANCY AND AS A PARTNER ON THE YOLO BYPASS WILDLIFE AREA HABITAT AND DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT.
EDUCATION - THE DISCOVER THE FLYWAY PROGRAM USES A VARIETY OF METHODS TO EDUCATE STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON THE VALUE OF AND THE ISSUES SURROUNDING WETLANDS PRESERVATION. VOLUNTEER DOCENTS AND STAFF CONDUCT FIELD TRIPS, WORKSHOPS, LECTURES AND SCHOOL PROGRAMS. THE FOUNDATION SERVED 3,639 K-12 STUDENTS FROM 39 SCHOOLS IN YOLO, SOLANO, SACRAMENTO, PLACER, AND EL DORADO COUNTIES. STUDENTS FROM 42 LOW-INCOME TITLE 1 CLASSES WERE ABLE TO ATTEND A DISCOVER THE FLYWAY FIELD TRIP THROUGH BUS GRANTS PROVIDED BY YOLO BASIN FOUNDATION. VOLUNTEERS DONATED OVER 7.000 HOURS IN SUPPORT OF FOUNDATION PROGRAMS.
