THE NEIGHBORHOOD CHRISTIAN CENTER (NCC) IS DEVOTED TO A VARIETY OF MINISTRIES TO THE RESIDENTS OF INNER CITY JACKSON. NCC PROVIDES AID IN THE FORM OF FOOD, CLOTHING, UTILITY ASSISTANCE AND EMERGENCY AID TO ITS CLIENTS COUPLED WITH A GOSPEL MESSAGE. NCC ALSO PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE TO CHILDREN IN THE FORM OF AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING PROVIDED BY VOLUNTEERS.

TUTORIAL PROGRAM FOR AFTER SCHOOL-OPERATES FIVE DAYS AT WEEK FOR THE DURATION OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. WE FOCUS ON CHILDREN'S ACADEMIC AND SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT AS WELL AS CREATIVELY INCORPORATING THE ARTS TO DEVELOP AND ENCOURAGE CREATIVE SKILLS. RETIRED CERTIFIED PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS LEAD OUR PROGRAMS ALONG WITH HELP FROM TUTORS AND COMMITTED VOLUNTEERS. STUDENTS RECEIVE HELP WITH HOMEWORK, ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT DRILLS, AND EXERCISES TO IMPROVE MATH SKILLS. STUDENTS RECEIVED INCREASED TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS THROUGH DAILY ACCESS TO A COMPUTER LAB AND TIME SET ASIDE FOR INCREASED READING AND LITERACY DEVELOPMENT. ONCE A WEEK, THE STUDENTS ALSO RECEIVE INSTRUCTION IN THE ARTS THROUGH NCC'S PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL VISUAL ARTISTS, DANCERS, MUSICIANS, AND WRITERS WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY.


SUMMER PROGRAM-NCC PROVIDES INSTRUCTION IN BIBLE STUDY, ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT TO AT-RISK CHILDREN, 3RD-12TH GRADES FOR A PERIOD OF FIVE WEEKS. CERTIFIED PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS, TEACHER'S ASSISTANTS AND VOLUNTEERS COME TOGETHER TO SHARE THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST THROUGH BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH OVER 100 STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS THROUGH ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN ACADEMICS, ATHLETICS, AND THE ARTS.
