TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP AND SERVICES TO ALL AGC MEMBERS AND TO THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
DURING 2021, THE COMPTRUST BOARD MADE THE DECISION TO CLOSE THE TRUST AND START THE PROCESS OF DISTRIBUTING CERTAIN ASSETS TO THE MEMBERS. CLAIMS IN THE PROGRAM WERE TAKEN OVER BY AMFED. EXCESS FUNDS MAY BE DISTRIBUTED TO THE AGC AT A FUTURE DATE.DUE TO COVID, SOME EVENTS WERE CANCELED UNTIL THE STATE CONVENTION WAS HELD IN GULF SHORES, AL IN JULY 2021. THAT CONVENTION PROVED TO BE THE MOST WELL ATTENDED CONVENTION IN RECENT YEARS. AN ADDITIONAL EVENT WAS CANCELLED DUE TO ANOTHER FLARE UP FROM COVID AND THE ASSOCIATION RETURNED TO NORMAL IN TIME FOR THE 2021 401K MEP SKEET AND TRAP SHOOT IN NOVEMBER 2021. THAT EVENT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL AND ALLOWED AGC TO COMPLETE A $25,000 ENDOWMENT FOR THE USM SCHOOL OF CONSTRUCTION + DESIGN AND TO FUND THE FIRST YEAR OF A $25,000 ENDOWMENT TO MSU SCHOOL OF CONSTRUCTION, ART, AND DESIGN. WE ARE NOW REPRESENTED AT BOTH UNIVERSITIES AND THE ONLY ONES IN THE STATE WITH AVAILABLE DEGREES IN CONSTRUCTION. ALTHOUGH NEW MEMBER NUMBERS WERE DOWN FOR 2021 OVER 2020, RETENTION WAS 97%. THOSE FIGURES WERE A DIRECT RESULT OF EFFORTS FROM OUR MEMBER SERVICES DIRECTOR, JESSICA HOUSDAN. WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO VISIT MEMBERS AND PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS, JESSICA MOUNTED A TARGETED PHONE AND SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN THAT KEPT OUR NUMBERS AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE DURING THE PANDEMIC. AGC CONTINUES TO HAVE A POSITIVE PRESENCE WITH THE LEGISLATURE FOLLOWING THE LAST ELECTION WHERE 6 STATE-WIDE ELECTED OFFICIALS WERE ELECTED WITH AGC PAC SUPPORT. THANKS TO TATE REEVES, GOVERNOR, CONSTRUCTION WAS DECLARED AN "ESSENTIAL" BUSINESS IN MISSISSIPPI. THAT DECLARATION ALLOWED OUR MEMBERS TO CONTINUE WORKING THROUGH THE PANDEMIC HEADING OFF A POSSIBLE MEMBER FALL OFF.
