THE MISSION OF THE HOUSTON MUSEUM OF DECORATIVE ARTS IS TO PRESERVE, ENHANCE, PRESENT, AND PROMOTE THE DECORATIVE ART COLLECTION OF THE LATE ANNA SAFLEY HOUSTON FOR PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING, EDUCATION, AND ENJOYMENT; TO INCREASE PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING AND ENJOYMENT OF THE CREATIVE EFFORTS INVOLVED IN MAKING DECORATIVE ART OBJECTS; AND TO INCREASE PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE SOCIAL AND CULTURAL INFLUENCES ON THE DECORATIVE ARTS DOWN THROUGH THE CENTURIES.
