FLIMP 2023 - 1797 TOTAL PEOPLE, BETWEEN 10 AM TO 2 PM 71% INCREASE FROM 2022 (1051 TOTAL) 39 TOTAL ZIP CODES WERE RECORDED 209 VOLUNTEER HOURS RECORDED 4 NEW COMMUNITY PARTNERS INCLUDED (ASU ART, ASF, AND AUM BRAIN PUMP) 1280 ART ACTIVITIES COMPLETED BILLBOARDS WERE #1 RECOGNIZED PROMOTIONJUNETEENTH 2023 - 203 ATTENDANCE SATURDAY, JUNE 17 MANY OF THE VISITORS WERE OUR NEIGHBORS FROM 36117 ZIP CODES SUNDAY PROGRAM WAS SPONSORED BY THE MAYOR'S YOUNG PROFESSIONAL GROUP FALL FESTIVAL - 2,666 TOTAL SATURDAY - SUNDAY 22 LOCAL ARTISTS PARTICIPATED AS VENDORS, 14 LOCAL ARTISTS IN GALLERIES, 6 POP-UP ARTISTS 46 VOLUNTEERS 100 FIRST-TIME VISITORS TO THE MUSEUM EACH ARTIST SOLD ARTWORKEVERY PROGRAM WE CREATED INCORPORATES ASPECTS OF DEAI (DIVERSITY, EQUITY, ACCESSIBILITY, AND INCLUSION. SEE DEFINITIONS BELOW.)REMOVING FINANCIAL BARRIERS FOR PARTICIPANTS HAS BEEN A GOAL OF THIS DEPARTMENT. IN JUNE 2023, PUBLIC PROGRAMS WERE OFFERED AT REDUCED OR FREE FOR ANYONE WHO REQUESTS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. STARTING IN NOVEMBER 2023 - DECEMBER 2026, ALL MMFA PUBLIC PROGRAMS WILL BE FREE TO THE PUBLIC BECAUSE OF ART BRIDGES ACCES FOR ALL GRANT TOTALING $280,000. THIS GRANT WAS WRITTEN AND MANAGED BY THE L+P DEPARTMENT. RECENT OUTREACH PROGRAMS INCLUDE MAXWELL ACSC WELCOME, STEAMFEST, DIA DE LOS MUERTOS, AND LANDMARKS. RECENT PARTNERSHIPS INCLUDE: ASF, ASU ART, HILLTOP PUBLIC HOUSE, TRILOGY HOTEL, AND MONTGOMERY ART CENTER EACH PROGRAM IS PLANNED WITH GOALS, TARGET AUDIENCES, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AT THE FOREFRONT. LOCAL ARTISTS, STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND FAMILIES ARE A FEW OF OUR TARGET AUDIENCES. ARTWORKS INTERACTIVE GALLERY IS THE #1 REASON FOR VISITING THE MMFA WITH APPROXIMATELY 60,000 ANNUAL VISITORS. IN FY 2022, L+P LED APPROX. 3,000 TOURS THROUGH THE MUSEUM 2,150 OF THOSE TOURS WERE FOR MPS STUDENTS ENCHROMA GLASSES FOR COLOR BLINDNESS AND KULTURE CITY SENSORY KITS ARE NEW ACCESSIBILITY OFFERS AT MMFA. EDUCATORS ARE SUPPORTED BY ARTED CENTRAL IS A MONTHLY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR ALL PUBLIC, PRIVATE, OR RETIRED EDUCATORS AND ARTISTS. EACH MONTH TEACHERS SHARE LESSON PLANS AND TECHNIQUES THAT CAN BE USED INTHEIR CLASSROOMS. WE HAVE CONTINUED TO GROW AND EXPAND THE VISITOR SERVICE PROGRAM AT MMFA TO PROVIDE AN INVALUABLE SERVICE TO THE MUSEUM AND THE PUBLIC. OUR VISITOR SERVICES REPRESENTATIVES CREATE A POSITIVE AND WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL VISITORS WHILE OFFERING INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE THROUGHOUT THE GUEST'S INTERACTION WITH MMFA.
PERMANENT COLLECTION ACQUISITIONSTHE MONTGOMERY MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS IS THE PREMIER ART COLLECTING INSTITUTION IN CENTRAL ALABAMA, AND SERVES THE TRI-COUNTY RIVER REGION BY EXHIBITING THIS COLLECTION FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC. THE COLLECTION FOCUSES PRIMARILY ON AMERICAN ART, HOWEVER SIGNIFICANT ADDITIONS IN OTHER COLLECTING AREAS WERE ALSO IMPORTANT TO THE COLLECTION'S DEVELOPMENT. IN FY 2022-23, THE MUSEUM ACQUIRED 14 WORKS OF ART REPRESENTING VARIOUS MEDIA. ACQUISITION HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE A WATERCOLOR BY THE ALABAMA ARTIST THORNTON DIAL, THE FAITH OF THE EAGLE (DOLLAR), 1991; TWO MIXED MEDIA PAINTINGS FROM 2023 BY TAJ MATUMBI; AND FIVE LIMITED-EDITION AMERICAN PRINTS BY ARTISTS OF THE MID-20TH CENTURY, INCLUDING WORKS BY ROBERT GWATHMEY, FREDERIC CASTELLON, AND RICHARD LINDNER.
EXHIBITIONSIN ADDITION TO SEMI-PERMANENT INSTALLATIONS OF ART FROM THE MUSEUM'S PERMANENT COLLECTION, THE MUSEUM OFFERS TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS THAT RANGE IN LENGTH FROM 8 TO 12 WEEKS. THE CADDELL SCULPTURE GARDEN, IS AN OUTDOOR VENUE IN WHICH PRIMARILY LOANED WORKS OF SCULPTURE ROTATE ON AN 18 MONTH TO 2-YEAR SCHEDULE.
