THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL, CHARITABLE AND RECREATIONAL SERVICES TO SPECIFIC GROUPS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON A HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT SITE IN GREAT BARRINGTON MASS. SUCH SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: OPEN SPACE AND RECREATION AREAS AND A CANOE LAUNCH PARK, SPACE INCLUDING TRAILS AND INDIGENOUS PLANTINGS, OPPORTUNITIES FOR SCIENTIFIC STUDY AND ON SITE SCHOOL GROUP VISITS, INTERNSHIPS AND EDUCATIONAL FORUMS AND ONGOING EXHIBITS AND LECTURES ON HISTORIC, CULTURAL, AGRICULTURAL, SCIENTIFIC, BOTANICAL AND OTHER THEMES. PROVIDING LAND,EXPERTISE AND INFRASTRUCTURE FOR SMALL SCALE FARMING AND AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDING FARMERS' MARKETS, INTERNSHIPS AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AS WELL AS GROWING PRODUCE FOR INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING SCHOOLS. RIVER CLEAN UP ACTIVITIES. ENGAGING WITH OTHER NON PROFIT GROUPS IN BENEFICIAL PARTNERSHIPS. THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED TO FURTHER ITS MISSION THROUGH ONGOING DEDICATION TO THE KEY TENANTS OF OUR MANDATE. OUR AGRICULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL, COMMUNITY BENEFIT, OPEN SPACE AND RECREATIONAL MISSIONS ALL FLOURISHED THROUGH THE INCREASED SCOPE AND SCALE OF OUR COMMUNITY GARDEN/FARMING INITIATIVE. OUR ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS MANDATE HAS ALSO BEEN SUCCESSFULLY ATTENDED TO THROUGH EXHAUSTIVE EFFORTS TO MAINTAIN AND PRESERVE THE HEALTH OF THE PROPERTY AS WELL AS TO RESIST THE PRESSURE FROM LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE CORPORATE INTERESTS TO FORCE COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT ONTO THE SITE. SELECTIVE MOWING, INVASIVE ERADICATION, TRASH REMOVAL AND DAILY MONITORING CONTINUE ON SITE TO THE BENEFIT OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND, THEREFORE, THE ENTIRE LOCAL COMMUNITY. WITH THE RIVER RUNNING THROUGH THE PROPERTY, THESE BENEFITS EXTEND BEYOND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. OUR EFFORTS ALSO HELPED TO MITIGATE THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE LOCAL TOWN HALL WHEN THEY DUMPED RAW SEWAGE INTO THE RIVER. WE CONTINUE TO PROVIDE A BEAUTIFUL RESPITE FROM THE CONSTANTLY EXPANDING DEVELOPMENT TAKING OVER EVERY SQUARE FOOT OF THIS FLOURISHING BOOMTOWN AREA.
