THE APL PROVIDES ANIMAL PROTECTION SERVICES FOR MCCREARY COUNTY KENTUCKY. THE SHELTER PROVIDES SHELTER AND FOOD FOR ABANDONED ANIMALS. APL RECEIVES FUNDS FROM THE COUNTY TO CARE FOR STRAYS AND HOUSE PETS THAT ARE ON HOLD FOR CHECKS ON RABBIES. ANIMALS ARE CARED FOR UNTIL ADOPTED OR RETURNED TO OWNERS. APL ALSO EDUCATES THE COMMUNITY ON ANIMAL CARE. THE SHELTER TOOK IN 504 DOGS IN 2021 AND 224 REMAINED IN THE SHELTER AT END OF YEAR. 280 ANIMALS WERE RESCUED OR ADOPTED. THERE WERE 32 COURT WORKERS THAT THE COURT REQUESTED BE USED AT THE SHELTER.
