FAITH IN AMERICA, INC. WAS FOUNDED TO EDUCATE AMERICANS ABOUT THE HARM CAUSED BY RELIGION-BASED HOSTILITY AND PREJUDICE TOWARD GAY, LESBIAN, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER AMERICANS. TO FURTHER THIS GOAL IN 2008, THE ORGANIZATION PRINTED AND SELF-PUBLISHED THE BOOK, "CRISIS: 40 STORIES REVEALING THE PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND RELIGIOUS PAIN AND TRAUMA OF GROWING UP GAY IN AMERICA", EDITED BY THE ORGANIZATION'S FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT, MITCHELL S. GOLD. SINCE THEN THE ORGANIZATION HAS USED THE BOOK TO SPREAD ITS MESSAGE THROUGH BOOK SIGNING EVENTS, INTERVIEWS, BOOK GIVE-AWAYS AND SALES, AND OTHER PUBLICITY EVENTS.
