NAMI PALM BEACH COUNTY PROVIDES ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, SUPPORT, AND PUBLIC AWARENESS SO THAT ALL INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES AFFECTED BY MENTAL ILLNESS CAN BUILD BETTER LIVES.

NAMI PBC OFFERS FREE EDUCATION, SUPPORT GROUPS, AND OTHER SERVICES FOR PERSONS IN RECOVERY FROM MENTAL ILLNESS, FAMILY MEMBERS, AND HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS.NAMI PBC CELEBRATED ITS 40TH ANNIVERSARY IN 2023, MARKING FOUR DECADES OF SERVING AS A BEACON OF HOPE FOR THOSE NAVIGATING THE COMPLEX TERRAIN OF MENTAL HEALTH. NAMI PBC OFFERS AN EXTENSIVE VARIETY OF FREE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, SUPPORT GROUPS, AND OTHER SERVICES FOR PERSONS WHOSE LIVES HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY MENTAL ILLNESS. IN 2023:-256 SUPPORT GROUP SESSIONS PROVIDED SPACE TO 3,271 INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR LOVED ONES TO SHARE EXPERIENCES, STRATEGIES, AND ENCOURAGEMENT. NAMI PBC STRIVES TO PROVIDE A SPACE IN WHICH EVERY PERSON CAN FIND PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY, WITH SUPPORT GROUPS AVAILABLE TO A VARIETY OF COMMUNITIES INCLUDING TEENS, YOUNG ADULTS, CAREGIVERS, LGBTQ+, AND SENIOR WOMEN. SUPPORT GROUP OFFERINGS WERE EXPANDED IN 2023 WITH THE CREATION OF A SUPPORT GROUP FOR BLACK COMMUNITIES.-NAMI PBC'S COLLABORATION WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT THROUGH THE CRISIS INTERVENTION TEAM AND NAMI'S SHARING YOUR STORY HAS BEEN PIVOTAL IN TRAINING 300 LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, USING THE POWER OF PERSONAL NARRATIVES TO FOSTER EMPATHY. -NAMI PBC PLACES A PRIORITY ON COMMUNITY OUTREACH, ACTIVELY SHARING RESOURCES AND OFFERING SUPPORT TO A WIDER AUDIENCE THROUGH 26 TABLING EVENTS ACROSS THE COUNTY REACHING 1,081 INDIVIDUALS.-NAMI PBC RECEIVED 1,894 INQUIRIES FROM COMMUNITY MEMBERS SEEKING INFORMATION REGARDING MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES AND RESOURCES AVAILABLE IN OUR COMMUNITY. -515 INDIVIDUALS ATTENDED NAMI'S WEDNESDAY DROP-IN CENTER, AN INFORMAL GATHERING FOR PEERS TO CONNECT, SOCIALIZE, AND ENJOY ACTIVITIES LIKE CRAFTS AND GAMES. NEW IN 2023 WAS THE CHRISTMAS DAY DROP-IN, FOR ANYONE NEEDING A PLACE TO BE AROUND FRIENDS DURING THE HOLIDAYS.-PEER MENTORING HELPED 27 INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS TO LIVE BETTER LIVES BY ASSISTING THEM WITH CREATING AND ACHIEVING THEIR GOALS, IDENTIFYING RESOURCES IN THE COMMUNITY, AND CONNECTING WITH OTHER SUPPORT SYSTEMS.-THE NAMI PBC PEER COUNCIL PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES TO OUR PEERS FOR SELF-DIRECTED INITIATIVES THAT CREATE MEANINGFUL OPPORTUNITIES FOR RECREATION. THE 26 COUNCIL OUTINGS AND 12 COUNCIL MEETINGS ALLOWED 580 PEERS TO SOCIALIZE AND BUILD CONNECTIONS DURING 2023.-47 TRAUMA-INFORMED YOGA CLASSES PROVIDED GUIDED YOGA AND JOURNALING TO 300 PARTICIPANTS.-102 PEERS AND FAMILIES PARTICIPATED IN MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION CLASSES. THESE CLASSES INCLUDED NAMI PEER-TO-PEER, A FREE EIGHT-SESSION EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR ADULTS WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS WHO ARE LOOKING TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THEMSELVES AND THEIR RECOVERY. THE PROGRAM HELPS PARTICIPANTS SET A VISION AND GOALS FOR THE FUTURE, DEVELOP CONFIDENCE IN DECISION-MAKING, STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIPS, ENHANCE COMMUNICATION SKILLS, AND LEARN ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT OPTIONS AND HOW TO PARTNER WITH HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS. CLASSES ARE ALSO TAILORED TO SUPPORT THOSE WHO LOVE AND CARE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS, INCLUDING NAMI FAMILY-TO-FAMILY. NAMI PBC FINALIZED THE CURRICULUM FOR INTEGRATIVE RESILIENCE TRAINING IN 2023, FURTHER ENHANCING OFFERINGS FOR WELLNESS EDUCATION AND RESILIENCE-BUILDING IN OUR COMMUNITY.-58 FREE PEER-LED EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS WERE PROVIDED TO 1,279 COMMUNITY MEMBERS, DELIVERING INSIGHTS OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WITH FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE IN THE MENTAL HEALTH SPACE.-415 COMMUNITY MEMBERS ATTENDED 21 GENERAL MEETINGS DURING WHICH A RANGE OF TOPICS WERE EXPLORED, INCLUDING VARIOUS DIAGNOSES, THERAPEUTIC MODALITIES, AND NUTRITIONAL STRATEGIES FOR MENTAL WELL-BEING.
