THE PROJECT WAS FORMED AS A NON-PROFIT CORPORATION UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING AND OPERATING A RENTAL HOUSING PROJECT UNDER SECTION 202 OF THE NATIONAL HOUSING ACT. IN APRIL OF 2006, THE PROJECT REFINANCED ITS HUD SECTION 202 LOAN WITH ONE COVERED BY HUD MORTGAGE INSURANCE UNDER SECTION 223(F) OF THE NATIONAL HOUSING ACT. THE PROJECT CONSISTS OF 20 HUD-ASSISTED HOUSING UNITS IN GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA AND IS CURRENTLY OPERATING UNDER THE NAME OF SHEPHERD HOUSE. SUCH PROJECTS ARE REGULATED BY HUD AS TO RENT CHARGES AND OPERATING METHODS. OCCUPANCY IS RESTRICTED BY HUD TO VERY LOW-INCOME ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES. A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF THE PROJECTS RENTAL INCOME IS RECEIVED FROM HUD UNDER A SECTION 8 PROJECT ASSISTANCE CONTRACT (PAC). THE PROJECTS NONMAJOR PROGRAM IS ITS SECTION 8 RENT SUBSIDY.
