UPSTATE INTERNATIONAL EXISTS TO EMPOWER PEOPLE AND BUSINESSES OF ALL NATIONS TO THRIVE IN THE UPSTATE BY CONNECTING THEM THROUGH PROGRAMS, EVENTS, AND INITIATIVES THAT FOSTER THE DYNAMIC EXCHANGE OF INTERNATIONAL CULTURES AND IDEAS.

LANGUAGE CLASSES - FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND SECOND LANGUAGE CLASSES - UI OFFERS 12-25 DIFFERENT CLASSES IN UP TO 10 DIFFERENT LANGUAGES DURING 4 SEMESTERS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. REGULAR CLASSES ARE ONCE PER WEEK; INTENSIVE CLASSES ARE OFFERED TWICE PER WEEK. SEMESTERS ARE 8, 10 OR 12 WEEKS LONG.
UPSTATE INTERNATIONAL MONTH - A MONTH LONG SERIES OF CULTURAL EVENTS CELEBRATING THE RICH DIVERSITY IN THE UPSTATE. UI-MONTH GENERALLY STARTS WITH A KICK-OFF EVENT HOSTED BY UI, AND THEN INCLUDES OVER 100 EVENTS OFFERED BY MANY ORGANIZATIONS/CLUBS/COMPANIES THROUGHOUT THE UPSTATE. UPSTATE INTERNATIONAL SEEKS OUT COMMUNITY PARTNERS WHO DEVELOP AND HOST INTERNATIONALLY THEMED EVENTS. WE PROMOTE, MARKET AND OCCASIONALLY DEVELOP THE EVENTS WITH OUR PARTNERS. EVENTS CAN BE AS SIMPLE AS SHARING A RECIPE, TO HANDS-ON COOKING, CULTURAL EXHIBITS, PERFORMANCES AND GALAS.
WORLD AFFAIRS COUNCIL UPSTATE - WE PROMOTE GLOBAL IDENTITY IN THE UPSTATE AND SUSTAIN INTERNATIONAL ENGAGEMENT IN OUR REGION. WACU GETS INVOLVED IN LEADING INTELLECTUAL DISCUSSIONS ON CRITICAL ISSUES FACING THE WORLD BY HOSTING DISTINGUISHED SPEAKERS AND ACADEMIC LEADERS IN SPEAKING EVENTS FOR THE PUBLIC AND AT LOCAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS.
