WELCOMING AMERICA IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT SUPPORTS COMMUNITIES BUILDING A WELCOMING SOCIETY WHERE EVERY PERSON, INCLUDING IMMIGRANTS, CAN FULLY CONTRIBUTE AND SHAPE OUR SHARED PROSPERITY.USING ITS INNOVATIVE, PLACE-BASED APPROACH, WELCOMING AMERICA WORKED WITH PARTNERS TO CREATE A CLIMATE AND POLICY ENVIRONMENT WHERE MORE INDIVIDUALS INCLUDING IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES WERE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE MORE FULLY IN SOCIAL, CIVIC AND ECONOMIC LIFE, CONTRIBUTING TO A MORE PROSPEROUS AND VIBRANT COMMUNITY FOR ALL. THIS INCLUDED ESTABLISHING NEW INFRASTRUCTURE IN COMMUNITIES TO SUPPORT IMMIGRANT INCLUSION, AS WELL AS THE CREATION OF NEW POLICIES AND PRACTICES IN LOCALITIES THAT HELPED TO BUILD BRIDGES BETWEEN NEW AND LONG-TIME RESIDENTS; EXPAND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY; INCREASE EQUITABLE ACCESS TO SERVICES AND ENABLE MORE NEW AMERICANS TO PARTICIPATE IN CIVIC LIFE.WELCOMING AMERICA GREW AND CONNECTED THE MOVEMENT OF LEADERS WORKING TO FOSTER INCLUSIVE COMMUNITIES, BUILDING A GROWING NETWORK OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND NONPROFIT MEMBERS WORKING NATIONWIDE, SUPPORTING THOUSANDS OF LEADERS THROUGH TRAINING, TOOLS, AND EXPERTISE ON BUILDING WELCOMING COMMUNITIES, AND STRENGTHENING TIES AMONG NEIGHBORS ACROSS LINES OF DIFFERENCE.BUILDING ON OUR 2020-19 COVID RAPID RESPONSE PROGRAMMING, IN 2021 WE HAVE CONTINUED TO SUPPORT LOCAL COMMUNITIES AROUND THEIR RESPONSE TO THE PANDEMIC WITH AN ADDED SUPPORT AROUND LANGUAGE ACCESS, VACCINE EQUITY, AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS FOR RENEWED IN-PERSON EVENTS. 2021 ALSO SAW THE START OF AFGHAN REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT EFFORTS AND WE WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN HELPING OUR NETWORK MEMBERS PLAN AND WELCOME THESE NEW REFUGEES AS WE DEPLOYED RESOURCES AND CAPACITY BUILDING TO SUPPORT LOCAL RESETTLEMENT EFFORTS.WELCOMING AMERICA CONTINUED TO EXPAND CERTIFIED WELCOMING -- A RIGOROUS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM BASED ON THE WELCOMING STANDARD, A COMPREHENSIVE SET OF POLICIES, PROGRAMS, PROCESSES, AND PARTNERSHIPS THAT ARE CORE TO IMMIGRANT INCLUSION. IN 2021,PITTSBURGH, PA EARNED A CERTIFIED WELCOMING DESIGNATION, LEADING TO A TOTAL OF 12 CERTIFIED WELCOMING PLACES IN THE UNITED STATES.IN 2021 WELCOMING AMERICA CONTINUED ITS GROWTH IN THE WELCOMING MOVEMENT THROUGH EXPANDED PARTNERSHIPS, EVENTS AND CAMPAIGNS THAT ENGAGED THOUSANDS OF INDIVIDUALS - INCLUDING THE PARTICIPATION OF COMMUNITIES IN CANADA AND AUSTRALIA IN OUR ANNUAL WELCOMING WEEK EVENT.
