PROMOTION: ULI ORGANIZES EVENTS AND PROMOTIONS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO BRING AWARENESS TO THE UNIQUE BUSINESSES LOCATED IN THE MSD. THESE INCLUDE THE BBQ CAPITAL COOK-OFF, CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE, CHRISTMAS AND SUMMER STROLLS, AND GROUNDHOG'S DAY. THESE EVENTS ARE FREE AND ARE OPEN TO AND MARKETED TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. BOTH THE BBQ COOK-OFF AND CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE ATTRACTED APPROXIMATELY 10,000 PEOPLE EACH.
DESIGN: THROUGH A FACADE GRANT PROGRAM, ULI ASSISTS BUSINESS OR PROPERTY OWNERS WITH IMPROVEMENTS MADE TO THE FACADE OF THEIR BUILDINGS. THIS INCLUDES PROFESSIONAL ADVICE ABOUT MAKING SENSITIVE IMPROVEMENTS TO HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR APPROVED PROJECTS. THE PROGRAM IS OPEN TO ALL PROPERTIES IN THE MSD AND IS PROMOTED MONTHLY IN A NEWSLETTER SENT SPECIFICALLY TO BUSINESSES AND PROPERTY OWNERS.
ECONOMIC VITALITY: THIS PILLAR ASSISTS PROPERTY OWNERS WITH SECURING TENANTS AND ENTREPRENEURS WITH FINDING SPACE FOR THEIR BUSINESS IN THE MSD. IT ALSO WORKS WITH PROPERTY OWNERS AND INVESTORS TO REPURPOSE BUILDINGS FOR NEW USES WHILE BEING SENSITIVE TO THE HISTORIC NATURE OF THE BUILDING AND DISTRICT.
