HITCHCOCK WOODS FOUNDATION OWNS, MAINTAINS, AND MANAGES THE 2100 - ACRE HITCHCOCK WOODS IN AIKEN,SOUTH CAROLINA, FOR THE BENEFIT OF RESIDENTS AND VISITORS. MORE THAN 65 MILES OF TRAILS THROUGHOUT THE NATURAL FOREST PROVIDE ACCESS TO A VARIETY OF HABITATS FOR THE ENJOYMENT OF EQUESTRIANS AND PEDESTRIANS. THE FOREST IS OPEN FROM SUNUP TO SUNDOWN 365 DAYS A YEAR. ADMISSION FOR GENERAL USE OF THE WOODS IS MADE FREE THROUGH VOLUNTARY FINANCIAL SUPPORT.

HITCHCOCK WOODS FOUNDATION PROTECTS AND PRESERVES A 2100 ACRE FOREST IN A NATURAL AND ECOLOGICALLY HEALTHY STATE. IT MAINTAINS AND MANAGES HISTORIC AND TRADITIONAL EQUESTRIAN AND PEDESTRIAN USES OF THE WOODS, AND FOSTERS EDUCATION AND RESEARCH ON THE HISTORY AND RESOURCES OF THE WOODS.
HITCHCOCK WOODS FOUNDATION UPHOLDS AND MANAGES THE AIKEN HORSE SHOW, ESTABLISHED IN 1916, TO SUSTAIN THE LEGACY OF THE HITCHCOCK FAMILY. THE HITCHCOCKS ESTABLISHED THE EQUESTRIAN COMMUNITY IN AIKEN, CONTRIBUTING TO THE GROWTH OF THE EQUESTRIAN ECONOMY IN AIKEN AND THROUGHOUT SOUTH CAROLINA.
