THE OLD JAMESTOWN SCHOOL ASSOCIATION PROVIDES THE COMMUNITY OF JAMESTOWN NC AND THE SURROUNDING AREA WITH THE JAMESTOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY AND THE OLD JAMESTOWN SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION.

THE LIBRARY PROVIDES A CARING AND COMPASSIONATE COMMUNITY CENTER THAT NURTURES LIFELONG READERS AND LIFELONG LEARNERS, PROVIDES FREE ACCESS TO LITERATURE, CULTURE AND INFORMATION THROUGH BOOKS AND OTHER RESOURCES, RESPECTS THE CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL HERITAGE OF THE COMMUNITY, AND HELPS THE PEOPLE OF JAMESTOWN AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES TO LIVE MORE MEANINGFUL AND MORE INFORMED LIVES. IN 2019 THE LIBRARY HAD SERVED 128,469 PATRONS, LENT 26,067 LIBRARY MATERIALS INCLUDING BOOKS, EBOOKS, BOOKS ON TAPE, CDS, DVDS, AND PERIODICALS, AND PROVIDED PUBLIC COMPUTERS FOR 12,130 PEOPLE PLUS 868 USED FREE WIFI.
THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION FOSTERS THE CULTURAL AND HISTORIC HERITAGE OF THE COMMUNITY BY MAINTAINING CONTACT INFORMATION FOR LIVING ALUMNI AND RECORDS REGARDING THE DECEASED ALUMNI. IT ALSO FUNDS THE OLD JAMESTOWN SCHOOL ARCHIVE AND ASSISTS WITH THE FUNDING OF THE BUILDING RESTORATION AND MAINTENANCE.
THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY SUPPORTS LIBRARY OPERATIONS BY SPONSORING FUNDRAISERS, LECTURE SERIES, AND OTHER SPECIAL EVENTS THAT EXTEND THE LIBRARY'S EXPOSURE TO THE PUBLIC BEYOND IT'S NORMAL DAY-TO-DAY FUNCTION. THIS ORGANIZATION HAS TAKEN A KEY ROLE IN PROVIDING MANY OF THE VOLUNTEERS THAT ASSIST LIBRARY OPERATIONS ON A DAILY BASIS.
