TRIANGLE RESEARCH LIBRARIES NETWORK (TRLN) IS A COLLABORATIVE ORGANIZATION OF DUKE UNIVERSITY, NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY, NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY, AND THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL, THE PURPOSE OF WHICH IS TO MARSHAL THE FINANCIAL, HUMAN, AND INFORMATION RESOURCES OF THEIR RESEARCH LIBRARIES THROUGH COOPERATIVE EFFORTS IN ORDER TO CREATE A RICH AND UNPARALLELED KNOWLEDGE ENVIRONMENT THAT FURTHERS THE UNIVERSITIES' TEACHING, RESEARCH, LEARNING, AND SERVICE MISSIONS.

IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT OF A SHARED LIBRARY CATALOG AND OF RESOURCE-SHARING SOFTWARE SYSTEMS AND ACTIVITIES. THE SHARED LIBRARY CATALOG ALLOWS ANY USER AT THE FOUR TRLN MEMBER LIBRARIES TO SEARCH FOR AND REQUEST MATERIALS HELD AT ALL FOUR TRLN MEMBER LIBRARIES.
ON JULY 30 AND JULY 31, 2020, TRLN HELD A TWO-DAY VIRTUAL ANNUAL MEETING WITH 443 REGISTRANTS. THERE WERE TWO KEYNOTE SPEAKERS, A UNIVERSITY LIBRARIANS PANEL, AND MANY PRESENTATIONS FOCUSED ON ISSUES OF RACIAL INJUSTICE AND THE ROLE OF ACADEMIC LIBRARIES IN CONFRONTING THIS INJUSTICE THROUGH REFLECTION AND ACTION. TRLN ALSO OFFERED THE RACIAL EQUITY INSTITUTE'S GROUNDWATER WORKSHOP ON THE SECOND DAY OF THE ANNUAL MEETING. THERE WERE PRESENTATIONS ON BOTH DAYS WHERE TRLN COLLEAGUES SHARED ABOUT THE WORK THEY HAD DONE OVER THE PAST YEAR. THE WORK OF EDI (EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION) WAS A PREDOMINANTLY ASYNCHRONOUS COURSE THAT RAN FROM THE WEEKS OF MAY 17 THROUGH JUNE 18, 2021. THIS COURSE WAS FACILITATED BY DEETTA JONES AND ASSOCIATES (DJA). THERE WERE TWO LIVE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS, EACH 90 MINUTES, WHERE PARTICIPANTS COULD DIG DEEPER INTO THE MATERIAL WITH EACH OTHER AND WITH DJA FACULTY. IN THIS 6-MODULE COURSE, PARTICIPANTS LEARNED PRACTICAL SKILLS AND TOOLS FOR DEVELOPING INCLUSION IN A VISIBLE WAY IN THEIR ORGANIZATION. THE COURSE EXAMINED SITUATIONS THAT ARE RIPE WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR AN INCLUSIVE LENS: WORKING ONE-ON-ONE, FACILITATING GROUPS, SETTING POLICY, AND LIVING OUR VALUES.THE WORK OF EDI WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY WITH MANAGERS, SUPERVISORS, AND PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING THE WORK OF OTHERS IN MIND. THE GOAL WAS TO HELP PARTICIPANTS PUT INTO ACTION THEIR INCLUSIVE INTENTIONS AND LEAD TO HIGHER LEVELS OF TRANSPARENCY, ENGAGEMENT, AND TRUST IN THEIR TEAMS.
